well, since this pic they've added lines on the road, but I still see people in the right most lane cut to the far left as they turn, cutting off 2 other turn lanes and 4 other lanes of traffic.

I believe at the one I posted, the right lane is suppose to stay far right, but the middle gets choice of next 2, and the left has the choice of the far left 2, per the lines on the road.

257.647 Turning at intersection; violation as civil infraction.
Sec. 647.

(1) The driver of a vehicle intending to turn at an intersection shall do so as follows:

(a) Both the approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

(b) Approach for a left turn shall be made in that portion of the right half of the roadway nearest the center line in a manner as not to interfere with the progress of any streetcar, and after entering the intersection the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection to the right of the center line of the roadway being entered.

(c) Approach for a left turn from a 2-way roadway into a 1-way roadway shall be made in that portion of the right half of the roadway nearest the center line and clear of existing car tracks in use, and by passing to the right of the center line where it enters the intersection. Approach for a left turn from a 1-way roadway into a 2-way roadway shall be made as close as practicable to the left curb or edge of the roadway and by passing to the right of the center line of the roadway being entered.

(d) Where both streets or roadways are 1-way, both the approach for a left turn and a left turn shall be made as close as practicable to the left-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

(e) Local authorities in their respective jurisdictions may cause pavement markers, signs, or signals to be placed within or adjacent to intersections and thereby require and direct that a different course from that specified in this section be traveled by vehicles turning at an intersection. When markers, signs, or signals are so placed, a driver of a vehicle shall not turn a vehicle at an intersection other than as directed and required by those markers, signs, or signals.

(2) A person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction.

whether technically legal or not, this is also how I make my lefts (or rights) when there are multiple turning lanes onto a multi-laned road.

however, as dave mentioned, I also typically apply sufficient force to the skinny pedal to make it a non-issue, and monitor the mirrors regardless as there is always someone faster, and there is always someone more determined to have a particular lane/line

where is the third lane? Only two lanes have painted turn arrows? The others are straight.

i travel that intersection you posted at least once a week. when i make the turn in my semi it hogs up most if not all the turn lanes. i always get that jackass who tries to cut to the inside of me while i swing wide to avoid running the curb down and return to the nearest lane. in the second example posted at square lake and telegraph there is actully dotted lines dictating lane selection. if i am making a right onto NB telegraph i always select the right most lane on SQ LK and turn into the 2nd lane on telegraph. if i don't when i try to swing wide i will encroach upon the outer lane which some idiot is usually occupying and proceeds to cut me off.

Yea, I've always thought that you turn into the lane that is with your current lane (?, yea, i'll explain)

In your picture, if your in lane A then you should turn into lane 1 only, then after turning into lane one you are free to change lanes to either 2-then 3-then 4 if you need to get to 4. If your in lane B then you should be turning into lane 2, then changing lanes are necessary.

Seems like this kind of thing is really hard for most drivers; same thing for two cars turing into the same lane, one turning left, one turning right; both of whom are turning into the same two lane. The driver turning left turns into the lane closest to him/her, the drivers turning right turns into the lane closest to them. Thus, two cars are both turn left and right into onto the same 2 lane road simultaneously. Most people are too stupid to realize this and turn into the wrong lane, and will look at you like your an fing retard for turning when they are

Well, I technically entered lane 1 but quickly proceeded into lane 2.
