My letter to burton

Quote:
Burton,

As a STRONG supporter and user of your products for over 20 years I am DEEPLY saddened that I have to write this email.

You see, ever since I was 10 years old (I’m now 32) I have ridden a burton snowboard, wore burton boots, socks, pants, jackets, gloves, etc. For over 20 years I have supported what I thought was the BEST in the industry. I am now the father of 2 young children, who for the past 3 years have also owned burton boards, boots, bindings, and apparel. My fiance? She wears and rides the same. My brother, all Burton since I taught him to snowboard when he was 10 years old (he’s now 27).

In my home currently are at least 10 burton jackets, 5 pairs of pants, numerous pairs of socks, 4 pairs of boots, bindings, 8 boards, 4 burton back packs, 2 burton board bags, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Unfortunately my support of your organization will be no longer. Because your support of the Thrillcraft bill and the support of closing the Canyonlands National Park in Utah to ORV use threatens another hobby my family is deeply invested in. ORV useage and the Moab trails. Many of my friends and family have and still do make trips to the ORV areas in Moab Utah to enjoy the seasonal roads, slick rock trails, and sheer beauty the desert has to offer.

I am an equal opportunity outdoorsman, I enjoy ORV use, Downhill mountain bike racing, and snowboarding. I haven’t singled you out, unfortunately I will have to stop supporting Osprey the makers of fantastic hydration packs, Teva-the makers of fantastic Mountain biking shoes, and Red Wing boots, the very boots that myself and many of my friends use for work and play.

I really hope you will reconsider your support of the closing of public lands to specific user groups, instead I would hope you would focus on supporting the education of user groups to use those lands responsibly, just as we use the ski slopes responsibly every winter.

While considering this bill, please take the time to consider the following websites for information on the responsible use of ORV’s on public lands.

www.treadlightly.com
www.sharetrails.org
www.ufwda.org

Thank you for the years of wonderful products. I hope that you will reconsider your stance on the closing of public lands. I hope to remain a customer.

Thanks,

I am not looking forward to it at all. I have honestly ridden burton only gear for almost 99% of my snowboarding needs. I am a very brand loyal person and I stick to what works. I have NEVER had a problem with burton equipment that they did not take care of well above and beyond. I have only had 1 or 2 issues worth even taking the product back to the store. I rode 60+ days per season for a number of years, and instructed for a number of years, my gear gets well used.

I don't really know that there is a better option out there, I am sure much of that industry is controlled by the greentards that support this bill.

I had to steal a couple lines from your letter Kickstand, hope you don't mind!

Red Wing Shoes,

As a VERY loyal customer, and a STRONG supporter of the USA made products that you provide to the hard working people of this great country, it saddens me DEEPLY to have to write this email to you.

I come from a family of blue collar workers, farmers, and truck drivers. Safety is a big deal when it comes to work. My great grandfather was an engineer for Pontiac Motors for 35 years designing and testing experimental parts. My grandfather built engines for Pontiac Motors for 30 years. My father drives a truck for Waste Management. My uncle is an OTR truck driver. My great Aunt and Uncle are sugar beet farmers and supply the Michigan Sugar Co., and have been, for more than five decades.

The thing that my family all has in common? They all wear Red Wing work boots. Because of my families loyal support to the great product that you make, I myself have been a strong supporter of your boots all of my life. My first pair of boots were your 9" steel toe loggers. Why did I buy those? Simple. They had MADE IN USA right on the inside of the tongue. I could have paid a much lower price for the Made in China boots, but there is nothing better than the feeling of buying something that was built in the country of which the soil you stand on.

Unfortunately, I will no long be able to support your company. Your support of the Thrillcraft bill and the support of closing the Canyonlands National Park in Utah to ORV use impacts a hobby of mine, and many others, that I love.

I really hope you will reconsider your support of the closing of public lands to specific user groups. The use of ORV trails is a way for many to explore the beautiful landscape in a different way rather than hiking or biking. The use of OHV is also a great way for individuals with disabilities to see the beauty that the Moab desert.

While considering this bill, please take the time to consider the following websites for information on the responsible use of ORV’s on public lands.

www.treadlightly.com
www.sharetrails.org
www.ufwda.org

Thank you for the many years of providing my family and me a great product. I hope you will reconsider your stance on this matter, and I hope I will be able to support your company again like my family has for over five decades.

Thanks

Don't mind at all. Just keep in mind for those of you who will also email burton, or red wings, or whomever you support to make sure if you do use the form of someone elses letter you take the time to make it unique enough that it does not just look like a bunch of copy and paste BS.

Show these companies that we don't just disagree with what they are supporting but that we genuinely care enough to write our own letter.

Agree! If somebody cares enough about a product, they should be able to write a good email. I just needed the links and the two lines above the links from yours

Like what others have said, it's sad to see these companies jumping on the bandwagon. What's worse is that if it passes, it'll just spread across the country and we might have all of our trails closed off.

I am more concerned about the spreading of trails closed by the precedence set forward then I am that fact that a trail I will most likely not ever visit could get closed.

The same fight is constantly fought in all of our other hobbies, instead of fighting each other we need to unite and fight together. Mountain bikers, jeepers, snowmobilers, hikers, horse riders (those fuckers leave big turds though), fisherman, hunters, etc.

why is this so hard for people to see? I know some of us see it, but why can we not unit on this?

because hippies who ride bikes don't understand why anyone could enjoy offroading.

and rednecks who offroad could never understand why anyone would enjoy mountain biking. Just look at the shit I get from time to time from some of the fucktards on here (liv2mx comes to mind ) for riding a mountain bike.

People are retarded and don't realize that the greenies will not be happy until the only way you can enjoy the woods is on foot, not a horse, not a bike, not a motor bike, and not a 4x4, but simply on your own two feet.....
