Idk. Guess I'd have to look at it. Good thinking....fenders feel pretty flimsy.

Maybe 2.5" between sidewall and fender. Wonder if I could get another .5" less back spacing with rims. Then take an inch from each fender.

I had figured about doing the same thing with my enclosed for wide tires but never got around to it. I think that is the only option because hard drive over fenders cause height problems again. The important thing is to figure out how much they articulate inward.

Considering purchasing a new winch for the front of the buggy and moving the warn to the rear. I have not been overly impressed with the warn since I got it.

I have been considering

XRC 9.5 GEN2 Comp Series Winch w/rope $449.99
This is appealing because its a 9,500 lb rate, and comes with 3/8's rope. But the gear ratio is low is it would be slower. And I can't seem to find alot of reviews for it.

X2O 10 GEN2 Comp Series Winch $549.99
Rated at 10K, also comes with 3/8 rope , but has a higher ratio so it would be quicker. Its also rated to be "water proof".

Which Warn do you have and what don't you like?

I have been less than impressed with a couple warns (both m8000's on sub 4k rigs, both over heated and stopped pulling long before they should have)

I bought a used m8000 a while ago. It was clean when I got it but prior life unknown. I replaced the motor and eventually all the solenoids with warn parts. Wasn't long before I started having solenoid issues again. It got sold off with my green explorer.

The buggy has a vr8000 on it. I won it at snofari last year. It seems to be starting to have solenoid issues as well. And I have seemed to have stalled it out on occasion on pulls that weren't very demanding.

I figure I will install the vr in the back of the buggy and whatever I buy new up front. If I don't like what I buy I can swap that to the rear and move the vr back up front.

I would like a new rope. And for not a whole lot more $ I can buy a new winch with rope on it.

Maybe those with 8724's have a problem because that's the wrong code. It's 8274, not 8724. My 8274 is older than most on this board and still pulling strong. It's also one of the fastest winches out there, has room for more cable/rope, plus easy access for additional in-cab wiring and solenoids.

I realize it is harder to package and super expensive to buy new but I think it's still one of the best ever designs.

http://shop.milemarker.com/p/sec8-scout

I have been running the standard sec8 for a couple years now and it has been great....never an issue even though some tough pulls (2 hour winch fest up the side of the mountain in 100* heat in windrock)...it is also reasonably quick ..i think you can get that one down closer to 500$ if you shop around....i think i payed 300$ for the standard version. My only knock on mine is it's a little tough to pull rope (i have trailgear rope on mine i won in a raffle) in free spool but aside from that i wouldn't ask for more.

Just throwing it out as a option
