Default The "I do things stupidly; am a glutton for punishment" build

Rewind to Jan of 2013; I sell my Wrangler and set-off for a new winter truck.

Due to a mental condition I pick something with little-no off-road-aftermarket parts - 2006 Expedition.

Here's day 1:

Within about a week I had the new tires and wheels - 295/70/17 Trail Grapplers on whatever kind of Discount Tire wheels.

Two days later I had a simple spacer lift put on

About 20k miles later, and a new bumper and winch added, I came across a screaming deal on nearly new Duratracs. As my Grappler's were about half done I gave them to my Ex for her F150 - and installed the 'too big' 315/70/17 Duratracs.

How it sits compared to the leveled F150 with my old tires.

New exhaust for my Expy happens this week - nothing crazy; just muffler and piping. Also - ordering Variable Timing Solenoids to see if I can cure or reduce the tick-tick-f'ing-TICKING screaming out of the passenger's side front wheel well.

Over the coming months I'm going to find a 3" body lift (from F150 and pay somebody to make it work), and then front and rear truetracs and 4.11 swap.

Then...I'll be done for awhile, I think. Or whatever.

I like builds that are out of the ordinary. That thing needs a roof rack though. I don't know why, but I feel like it does

I have a rack for it! Although I need something...beefier (that's what SHE said).

Here's the rack from last winter -

Thanks - realistically this will be a tow rig for something, and expedition truck for back country camping and whatnot. Maybe, just maybe will make it thru the apocalypse ;-)

Well, imo, it will only make it through the apocalypse with a straight axle front lol! This truck would look sick with a Dana 60 front end...

Agreed. But the cost of conversion ($5-6000??) is better spent on Ammo. And Food. And wenches. :)

Good point, when the clinch comes down, you just take whatever vehicle still has gas in it

That is a nice build. I like it when guys take a BORING vehicle and tweak it from everyday driver to everyday badass driver! Nice job. I think the tires, roof rack and bumper were money well spent on something you like to drive. I drive about 50k a year. I am always snapping photos of rigs that are out of the ORDINARY!

Cool build
