Default Hunters opinions

Sittin in the ground blind today and saw a massive doe with her fawn so I didn't take the shot. And I got to thinkin how a lot of people swear they will never shoot a doe because they aren't ment to be shot or some reason. My family is a firm believer in the fact that you can't eat horns. What's your stand on this no doe topic???

Smoke her if you got her!

Will you use the meat? If you are just killing to kill then no.

I am all for population control, my car is in the shop because I smoked a doe.

Catch and release for fishing is one thing, passing up on something that is gonna end up dead makes zero sense, if you don't shoot it someone else will, or it will get hit by a car.

Yes my family lives off venison as much as possible. Never shot anything just to kill.

A fawn won't stray far from mama, if it's alone, pee in it's butt, then a shot to the back of it's head.

My buddys dad wont let me shoot a doe on his property, he is a firm believer that does should be saved because they produce little bucks. We still eat the animal, just rather be a buck I guess.

I won't take one being trailed by a fawn. Thats about the only time a big doe will get a pass on my account.

The buck to doe ratio in our state is so bad. We need to shoot a lot more doe.

You don't eat horns.

A leftover from the old days, that shooting does was "not manly". QDM experts say shoot the does, but let those 1 1/2 year-old spikes walk.

And if a big doe is being trailed by a fawn, shoot anyway. By this point (i.e. gun season) that fawn is either self-sufficient or not gonna make it through winter. Now, I'll pass on the fawn.

Im not sure on how valid it is but ive heard that if you shoot the doe after the fawn has lost most its spots or atleast as late into the season as possible, the fawn will stick around that patch of woods. so it could be a win win get the doe this year and have a deer stick around for a couples years that can be claimed later.

Definitely need to shoot does, and I always do. Are you guys able to purchase antlerless tags in Michigan? Here there are a certain amount of them for each county. You buy your any sex tag for $26 then you can purchase additional antlerless tags. The first one is the full $26 but after that you can buy as many as you want until they run out for like $13. There has been several years I have killed 3-4 does and no bucks.

Same feeling here.

It is retarded. I see no reason this state can't produce world class bucks each year. The problem lies with the guys that go brown and down at 7:30am opening day.

I see your reasoning for taking her but I just don't feel right dropping a doe with a fawn in trail.

The rules need to be changed to one buck with four or more points on one side per season. The deer population is huge and will start putting a strain on the food and territory supply if it hasn't already. One buck can breed with many does. IMOH.
