Default 92 tbi 350 thermac test

At what temp does the thermac open? I put my wife's blow dryer to it until I couldn't hold on to it anymore and it only opened about 1/4 way. It's a 92 tbi 350.

I put the whole lower air cleaner housing in the oven @ 185 and it was open when I checked it after I forgot about it and then started smelling PCV like fumes lol wife is going to kick my ass when she gets home! Hope the term "self cleaning" really means self cleaning. Going to take the truck for a ride and get it up to temp and check it again.

Can't find one anywhere so I cut it out and used the diverter to patch the hole with a little silicone.

Are you asking about the air inlet heater/riser from exhaust? if so it shouldnt be open ( from exhaust side) until it gets cold. It is designed to warn incoming air. as cold air goes by, the valve should open a little. Sorry I cant remember the operating temps.

It is inside the snorkel of my air cleaner housing. It never opens even after a 25 mile drive. It is always sucking air from the heat riser/manifold and never cold air.

if you bring the assembly inside for a full heat soak it should stay closed, but like I said I dont remember the operating temps. It opens when its cold and closes when hot outside(ambient air)
