Looking for a Remington 870 - Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest

Like the title says I am looking for a Remington 870. I am a motivated buyer, I plan on going shopping for one tomorrow but would like to support a GL4x4 member if possible.

Barrel style does not really matter at this point.

Forgot to add that I would like to be able to shoot a 3" shell.
I think you have to have a Magnum for that? That is what I was told

I think Dick's sporting goods has them on sale this week. I would get the combo if I were you. Its nice to have both barrels.

I know a lot of people that have the same shotgun and a few barrels I could borrow if need be.

Just checked Dicks page, They have the express on sale with the extra barrel. I do not want an express, I have heard some bad things about them.

The newer ones don't have to be a magnum I don't think. I actually don't think they make the magnum receiver anymore (could be wrong). I wouldn't buy an Express IMO. Check Williams and Guns Galore. I personally do business with GG, but have heard good things about Williams. I just have always had good service at GG.

Bad advise. If its not a Magnum, it doesn't have a 3" chamber.

The 870 express is the same action on all Remingtons. The finish is cheaper on the express because it is not a blued finish.

Talking to a few people and now i am leaning towards a Benelli Nova.

Gonna go up.to Williams tomorrow and check them both out!

I love my 870 express. I can treat it like shit and it fires every time. It never complains. It just goes boom when I put my buger flinger on the loud switch.

I have put mine in the swamp a few times duck hunting with no problem ever

I have 2 870 expresses and they both shoot great and they both accept 3 inch shells with no problem.

I ended up with a Remington 1100. I absolutely love it! It was the same price as the 870 expresses and I think it is a much better gun for the $$
