I've seen "the light". I have had 14 heart surgeries, 2 of them open chest. I have been saved on the operating table twice with paddles to get me going again. After the last open surgery I was on "milk of amnesia" better known as Propofol, the same stuff that killed my hero, MJ. I was on it for 4 days.

The first open surgery I had almost lost it in Bradycardia (too slow heart beat) because I had an internal pacemaker, and they put in an external pacemaker. The two were fighting for control. I was laying on a stainless steel table, with an OR light shining right in my face. I asked aloud "am I dead" my chest hurt like a mofo, and the gave me a medicine to bring me out of the sedation, and it took ALL of the sedation away. The nurse came in and gave me Morphine IV. This is when we found out I'm allergic to Morphine.

That's the way most find out about drug allergies. When they really need a good one to work. I mean we (most of us) don't try these drugs out.One of my neighbors actual refused more treatment, the drugs he was taking made him worse. Came home with hospice who then wanted him on Wait for it. More drugs.
Morphine must be a common one, this neighbor(found out when hospice wanted him on it) and the next one are both allergic.

Found out in the ER that I was allergic to Anapsine, I started having uncontrolled movements. The wife asked "what are you doing" I said I'm not driving, as I grabbed the bedrails and started shaking the hell out of the bed. Almost knocked the bed on it's side while she was screaming in the hall for a doctor to come quick. He gave me an injection, I'm assuming it was benadryl, and I fell over dead for 6 hours. That was fun.

I know but just the image of flailing arms and the wife looking at you like "What the fukc ?!" and the simple response of "I'm not driving." while your arms grab the bed and start shaking it into submission is just hilarious.

Oh and when you said "I've seen the light" were you referring to the OR room lights before you went under or something else you saw after your heart had been stopped for a few minutes?

If it was the something else... Do you remember anything other than that bright light?

I brought this topic up for discussion simply because I recently read a book on this very topic that was written by a Harvard neurosurgeon that went through it himself and came back with one hell of a story for supposedly being brain dead for a week. He had the classic scientific/logical take on what people saw in these situations until it happened to him. He wrote this book to try and get the message out about what he saw and how much it changed his life. It just so happens that what he describes in this book locks in with what I've accepted as hardwired understanding in my own soul and why I have never been able to accept wholeheartedly any form of organized religion.

When I was four (too young for any sort of real memory of the events other than a "two second video clip" of an oxygen mask placed on my face and the smell of the plastic it was made of) I was rushed to the hospital by my pediatrician (personally... didn't call an ambulance. Picked me up and as he ran to his car told my Mom to get in hers and follow as close as she could no matter what traffic laws she broke) where his diagnosis of bacterial meningitis was confirmed and I slipped into a coma that lasted a week. Another child of the same age was brought in that day of the exact same thing and died within hours of arrival (my Mom found this out AFTER I came out of the coma).

I have never been able to accept any form of organized religion in my life because no matter what... I feel my entire mind reject anything I've ever seen in any sort of church. I can't trust the Bible because of the fact that it was written by man and it's a known fact that "political" figures throughout history have removed parts to fit their own purposes. I've tried a lot of churches because I KNOW deep down that the touch of a being so far superior to ourselves can be seen in everything around us on a daily basis but not one of them has ever felt right. The touch of the greatest engineer we have ever witnessed the work of is around us at all times. I just can't sit there and say that I know because some book or someone said so. Modern organized religion reeks of the arrogance of Man when we know damn well that we don't know shit about shit.

But anyway... That neurosurgeon's account of what he experienced hit me on a level I never thought possible and I wonder if I saw something myself during that week of coma when I was too young to remember now.

If anyone reading any of this has had an experience such as this please share your story and what you saw. The greatest question of mankind is "What comes after we die?"

By the way... Here's the info on the book.

They had me on a coroners table, because they were sure I wasn't going to make it. I was the 6th person on this planet to have this particular surgery, 2 lived. The light, was the surgical light they kept over top of me because my heart was failing. Until my wife pointed out that my internal hardware was fist fighting with the external hardware. Sometimes women are worth something....

I had a reaction to a dose of penicillen for an infection I had in a tooth. I was starting to feel real itchy all over and went back into the hotel room where we were staying at. I told my wife what was happening and asked her to call an ambulance.
I sat down on the couch, was feeling dizzy by now. I got thirsty and got up to get a drink of water. I walked to the sink got a glass and took a drink. I put the glass down and then I got up off the floor and thought who hit me.
I cracked my cheek bone on the concrete floor and had a nice gash and blood. I crawled back to the couch and waited for the ambulance.
They showed up and gave me a shot of benedryl and then everything went black. I was in and out of it.
Next thing I see was a light(doctors flashlight)I was there but not, then everything began to spin.
Then I hear somebody say Big Poke!
I felt like somebody stabbed me in my thigh. I look over and the doc is pulling out a huge needle from my leg. I was told it was a shot of efenepran.
The doctor told my wife they almost lost me.

Let it rest. Focus on life now. Raise your children to be good people. People are nowhere ready to understand what is beyond death. For now let those that believe in their religion use that as their knowledge. Trading in 1 book for another is just simply another story.
