thinking about it. Havnt tore it apart yet but got some major clunking going on when in 4wd, very bad when turning (started at the color tour but made it though the day) and I knew the carrier bearings were getting noisey and I believe they finally went(214,000 on axles). By the time I rebuild my dana 60, put in 4.56's(3.55 now w/ 37" tires) and convert to lockouts($1,000 kit) which I want its almost cheaper this way and it cuts down on maintance costs like wheel bearings and such. Plus it gives me a chance to reclock my front axle a bit for the lift thats on it. Gunna pop the cover off this week and see how bad mine is cause all my outers and u joints are nice and tight so its gotta be internal.

put 3,000 miles on this dodge since i bought it and so far ive been though a fuel pump, front wheel bearings, alternator, transmission(still have to replace but works with a shudder) and now axles I believe its gunna be parked until I can figure this all out, got a 96 ZJ that im DD'ing now that i picked up for dirt cheap.

Ok, i will would take any serious advise i could get on this axle swap. I am looking for a late 70's style, cause the late 80 style was balljoint and offset diffs from what ive researched online.

Actually all ford dana 60's were king pin until 91. The biggest difference is the location of differential. The 86 and up are 3" closer to the drivers side. I have an 88 that i would sell, it has 4.10's and is complete $800

Send me some pictures and we can talk. In alpena?

And I will change the heading but I am strictly looking for a late 70's style ford dana 60 because the offset diff on a 80's style wont leave me enough room to remount my longarms and coil buckets/shocks without modification.

if you have anything to trade, I has a 4.10 and down carrier sitting on the barn floor in EJ that hasn't quite yet been tossed in the scrap pile.
