Default Custom Jeep wrangler TJ - $11500 OBO (Kingsford, MI)

1997 Jeep wrangler TJ for sale

REDUCED PRICE: $11,500 (see below for revised pricing)

Completely restored and custom fabricated jeep project. This build took me three years and I completed it approx two years back. Since the completion of the build it has been used as a hunting vehicle and a weekend cruiser. Never abused which is the main reason I'm looking to sell it. I would like to sell it to help finance a more budget jeep build that I will be more likely to use as jeep intended it.

I have tons of pictures and info taken from the build of this jeep so if you have any questions just let me know. At one time there was a build thread online which showed all the nuts and bolts of the build but the site has since been relocated and is no longer available online. I do however have all the info saved if needed.

As an overall basis for this build I was shooting for a stretched wheelbase jeep, which was done in such a way to maintain a somewhat stock look. I ended up stretching the wheelbase a total of approximately 10 inches. The wheelbase was increased by approx two inches up front and 8 inches out back. In stretching the backend I didn't want to comp cut it, I wanted to retain a full wheelwell and I think I achieved a very clean original look without sacrificing the classic lines of the jeep all that much.

Anyway the following is a list of all the goodies I can think of:

•Body: The body is all steel- tons of hours in sheetmetal work and custom body forming. These fenders are very ridged and really set off this jeep from the crowd.

•Armor:
-Custom front bumper with mandrel bent dom tube hoop and ready for a winch. (currently drilled for a warn 9500i)
-Custom rocker guards with mandrel bent dom tubing
-Custom rear bumper with optional integrated HD spare tire carrier. (I don't normally run a spare tire so the tire carrier is in the garage but can easily be installed)

•Interior
-Roll Cage: Custom 6 point rollcage made out of 1.75" and 1.5" dia 1/8" wall mandrel bent dom which is tucked away and cleverly built to blend with the jeep and not take up much valuable room in this small little vehicle. (Through the dash design) the cage is built to accept racing 5 point seatbelt harness but I don't currently run them.
-Custom marine vinyl two tone waterproof/mildew resistant seat covers.
-Custom integrated rear locking toolbox in the rear of the jeep which resides over the relocated stock fuel cell.

•Suspension:
-Custom triangulated long arm, fourlink rear suspension. (2" dia 0.25" wall dom upper and lower tubing with johnyjoints all around) 3.5" rear Rubicon express coil springs, and rear frame modification to allow for 8" rear stretch. Bilstein 5100 series 12" travel shocks. Tons of time and thought was put into this rear suspension.
-Custom longarm three link front suspension. (2" dia 0.25" wall dom lower links with johny joints and 1.5" dia 0.25" wall dom upper link with heims joints) 14" travel remote reservoir fox coilover shocks. Countless hours were spent to get this suspension to work in unison with the custom steering.

•Steering: Custom high rise steering with no expense spared. (1.5"dia 0.25" wall dom tie rod and drag link, aftermarket Reid Racing knuckles and high steer bar. This setup makes for excellent, smooth steering with zero bump steer. Wagoner pitman arm and custom frame to accommodate the high steer, relocated steering box, and large travel front end.
•Axles:
-Custom 79 ford half ton D44 front axle narrowed to accept Scout D44 axle shafts. This axle is equipped with ARB selectable air lockers, and 4.56 gears. A master install kit was also used when setting up this axle so all the bearings and seals have been replaced. Stock 79 Ford disc brakes.
-Custom 79 ford half ton 9" rear axle narrowed to accept aftermarket 31 spline early bronco axle shafts. This axle is also equipped with ARB selectable air lockers, and 4.56 gears. A master install kit was also used on this axle so it's new and clean from one end to the other. Custom rear disc brakes from a K10 blazer. And heavy duty axle truss to strengthen the housing and house the upper suspension links.

•Drive shafts: The front driveshaft is the stock TJ shaft. The rear drive shaft is a stock front drive shaft from a wagoneer.

•Transfer case: An extreme short slip yoke eliminator kit was installed along with a shifter relocate kit. This transfer case is in great working order and was only opened up to install the slip yoke eliminator kit.

•Transmission: Stock TJ 5 speed manual transmission. Other than having to replace the trany mount, I never had any issues with this trany.

•Engine: Stock 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L with K&N cold air intake, super high flow catalytic converter, and custom mandrel bent high flow exhaust tucked up and out of the way nicely. The mechanical fan was taken out and replaced with a Ford torus electric fan with aftermarket fan regulator computer. This engine is still very strong and has many years of life left in it even considering the 147k miles it has on it. I have never had a single issue with this engine and would expect to get another 150k out of it.

•Other odds and ends: New fuel pump, CJ 7 front turn signals, CJ 7 side mirrors, flush mount LED tail lights, Hella 500 offroad lights, new windshield, optima redtop deep cell battery. Light up dash mount toggle switches for; ARB air compressor, selectable air lockers, offroad light (not hooked up), and I believe an electric fan override switch (not hooked up). New factory jeep rescue green metallic paint, 35x12.5R15 Yokohama MT tires with 15x10 Black American Racing steel wheels. Tires have more than half tread left. I also replaced the stock swing out tail gate with a brand new aftermarket CJ tailgate with jeep logo stamped in it. The front frame is also set up for a Currie Antilock Swaybar kit but handles greatly without a swaybar so I never installed it.

Only serious enquiries please.

Thanks guys! Yeah I really should hang on to it but I really want to build a flat fender and cant afford to have both jeeps and a pickup. I will hate to see it go but also cant wait to start on an old Willys.

I think the only trades I would be interested in would be for a Willys flat fender or a 2005-09 toyota Tacoma

Thanks man! Yeah I have a lot into it and i knew going into it I would lose my ass selling it but oh well. I think I like building them more then using them so it's time for a flat fender project. Just need to sell this before i can start on the next.

I will entertain any reasonable offers also. Thanks

I would love an sti actually! I will have to pass however because I just bought a pickup and would like to offset that some by selling my jeep. Any left over cash would go towards a cheap flatfender I have my eyes on. Thanks though!

OK all. For a limited time only I'm running a deer season special. First person with $10,500 takes it! If it doesn't sell by the end of november it is getting dropped to storage insurance and tucked away for the winter.
