Keep 'em. I pitched a ton of stupid stuff when I moved that I wish I had as "decorations" now.

I will take them if you don't want them. I need a few hundred to line the ceiling of my "bar".

You better keep them or destroy them. In some hoods they are used as parking passes or worse. Like to hide their real plate while they are jacking the party store!

I still remember the plate number I had on a black plate in the early 80's.

Maryland fines you if you don't "surrender" them...

Side bar question, if you have a classic car can you run old style tags? I would love to be able to run the old blue tags!

I've seen plates on antique cars that are from the year it was manufactured re-registered and used. Don't know what's involved with doing it though.

I've kept a few notable plates over the years. I still have my SYCOGEO plate and the UCANT plate from my pro street Z1 900.

Yep. I keep them all, I even keep them form cars I have scraped out.

I am looking for plate from other states right now. So if any one happens to have other state plates and your willing to let them go, please me know. I want them from the states that I have been to.

Using a plate from the year the car was manufactured carries some stiff regulations. Vehicles must be 25 years old or older. The plate must match the year the car was produced, and if the year required it, a front plate must match a back plate of proper year. Both plates must match. Plates can be re-painted, but must be painted in the original color, and have the same reflective characteristics as original.
Authentic plates, like Antique plates, can only be used for driving to and from car shows, club meetings anything automotive based where specialty cars will be gathering. Authentic plates cost a one time fee of $35.00, which does not expire. You cannot use a plate from another state on your vehicle.
Plates do not have to be original to the vehicle, but proof of purchase must be provided to the SOS when paperwork is submitted to Lansing.

They are also not in the LEIN system, so you better be sure to have your registration on you.

You can in MI... some states don't allow it. If you don't drive like a dick cops don't bother you. The law allows for mechanical testing, which can get you a little wiggle room.
