Default Clutch exploded

I have an '05 TJ, 4.0 6 speed and my clutch exploded, what would cause this. It also took out the slave cylinder.

I've done it drag racing. Not in a jeep though. Faulty clutch disc I'd say if you weren't beating on it.

No beating on it, daily driver, dealer had tranny out and kind of thinking maybe misaligned during reinstall.

wait? so you were just driving and went to shift from 3rd to 4th (assuming you still had power and forward motion to get up to speeds to be able to go to 4th) and then when you went to shift you had no clutch? This is what I read. This is NOT a exploded clutch. Whoever told you that is blowing smoke up your A.

An exploded clutch will loos all forward power, send the motor into high rpm like you through it in neutral and be VERY loud.

Sounds like a clutch slave or master to me. Put it in N and start the engine. If it sound like its going to blow up, then clutch is bad. If its perfectly quiet, than clutch is ok. Put it in 1st and start it if its quite in N. If it goes (take the N safety off obviously) and has plenty of torque, clutch is good and its something else in there.

Were they driving it when it happened? About the only way i have see a disc come apart was with to much input shaft RPM like if you went into 1st at to high of road speed.

I was told by one of the guys at work(we are Maintenance in a factory) who has been a mechanic for 20 years before this job, that it sounds and looks as if it was put back together and misaligned, and just trying to get some other ideas, I have drove nothing but manual transmissions for over thirty years and have never experienced anything like this, let alone have a clutch problem

Once the dealer has it apart you're at their mercy. They can tell you what they want, and generally hide what they don't want you to know. Cover their ass basically.
Like said earlier, if the clutch disc exploded, it would make a shit ton of noise and would not be drivable.

Holy fawk I'm glad I can turn a wrench!

Pure speculation, but maybe the pressure plate bolts were overtorqued and sheared off, causing disaster?
