Default need help on a V 8 limited Grand Cherokee found out what gears i have thanks

Hi I am looking to purchase a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee off Craigslist it is a limited and it is V 8 this 1 is not all wheel drive all the time as the transfer case has the two drive selection the Jeep is in Saint Clair Shores and I live in Newport before I go to pick it up I'd like to know what gears came in the v 8 Grand Cherokee and he said the transmission is bubbling up trans fluid through the filler tube what would cause it to much fluid. Or ? thanks for the help

should be the 5.2 318 v8 or if its got the hood louvers it should be 5.9 360 but less than 10,000 were made with the 360, the 318 most popular.

As for the transmission fluid, im going to guess the vent tube is clogged. Where is it located on a grand cherokee? I have no idea, but i seen a few cars do the same thing.

Iirc the grands could get water down the trans vent tube fairly easy.It could be over full or have water in the fluid.Usually when trans fluid comes out the vent on a auto trans the fluid is boiling because the trans is smoked.

i think the rear axle and gears depend on if it has the towing package or not i know on a i6 grand cherokee it has 3.55 gears unless it has the towing package then it has 3.73
but i think if the v8 ones have the towing package they also came with the dana 44a rear axle
