CJ 1 piece axle conversion
Guys, I am brand new to this forum. I have an 83 CJ7. New frame restoration, 258, Clifford Intake, Holley 4-barrel, 4.0 head conversion, HEI, 2.5 inch lift, 33's. That's pretty much where I sit.
This winter I want to do the Moser 1-piece axle conversion and put a locker on the rear while I am doing it. I have a nice garage with great tools. I have the money to get the stuff I need but I have no press (nor would I know how to use it if I had one).
Any thoughts on the conversion and how hard is it?
Jeff from Grand Rapids
BTW - I have the Dana 20 rear.

first, its an amc 20 not a dana 20
and you should be able to get an axle shop to press on the new bearings and bearing retainer onto the new one peice axle no problem

Be patient, check out parts for sale, I ended up with a complete rear end, trussed, 4.10 gears, 1 pc Moser's with locker for the price that I would have paid for a locker alone. Welcome to GL4x4, or if you have the budget, there's plenty of help to be found here too.
