Default Who can sail?

I was just sitting around bored out of town and got to thinking. How many people know how to work a sailboat. I learned on a sunfish and we moved up to a Hobiecat 16 when I was about 13, that was a fun boat when I was all of a hundred pounds.

I have a brother and 2 sisters and doubt either could get across a lake.

I pretty much grew up on a Cal25 on lake St Claire. I sailed from when I was just barely able to walk until 15 or 16, haven't been on a sail boat in a long time but I'm sure I could do some damage. I miss it more every year and would love to get a Cal25 to race again.

I used to sail with my ex-business partner. Used to sail from Bay Harbor Marina up to Charlevoix at his up north pad. It was cool, but he didn't like dinking around with working the sail back and forth sailing into the wind, so he would fire up the diesel engine and drop the sails.

I used to race lasers. I plan to retire on a blow boat.

Learned on a sunfish, bought my wayfarer after that which was quite the upgrade. Have bought and sold a katyak, snark, 15 foot solcat, and am now just using the 14 foot hobie. Been sailing as long as I can remember.

I would like to get a hobie 16 or 18 they are a ton of fun.

I "can" sail, but I never really thought it was all that hard to "do", however to be a good "fast" sailor I am sure it takes a lot of time to perfect it, as with anything else.

I enjoy it but sold my 21 last year. Sailing on a small lake isn't worth the effort.

Growing up my parents had a 27 ft. then a 30 ft Catalina sailboat out on Lake Huron.

My dad always had a sail boat when I was growing up. It was a lot of fun when there was wind. When you got out in to the Saginaw bay and the wind dies it sucks.
