1. I don't get ridiculed for hanging out with ryan.
2. He doesn't drive an HHR
3. I don't drive an HHR

Father in law bought one new, and after 4 return trips for the front end falling off, he lemon law'ed it. The design flaws cannot be fixed, just band-aids applied. He had less than 15k miles on it.

My wife's been driving an 2006 HHR since it was new no major issues just regular maintenance it gets 27.5mpgs average can get 30 and its great for hauling the dogs around and the front passenger seat folds down to haul things that are 8' long. It has 130,000 miles on it and still going strong.

Yeah, every time it was in the shop, it was for 2-3 weeks. Ordering parts, waiting, more waiting. I believe it was an 07.

My dad has an 08 hhr 4 cyl with 180k miles still running great. Only major repair was a cracked exhaust manifold and cat converter. Only complaint I've heard was gas mileage could be a lot better for a 4cyl car.

I have the panel version, 53000 miles and it needs struts. Other than that no problems. I got 30mpg on a drive to Wisconsin with it full of camping equipment.

Steel wheels will bend on even the smallest pothole. Usually takes out the TPMS sensor.

The 2.2 is not going to win any races. The SS is much better.

Interior door handles break easier than you would think. Requires replacing the entire door panel unless you are 'handy'.

Sheetmetal is thin. Do not lean on any part of the car.

Drivetrain is fairly durable on average, but rotors will warp if you are heavy footed on the brakes. Overtorque the lug nuts and the rotors warp.

Water tends to run down the gap between the fender and door and freeze in cold weather. If you yank the door open it bends the front edge of the door.

Pre-09, the window switches are in the center console, takes a bit to get used to it. You'll find yourself locking the doors at the drive thru for a week or two.

air filter is a 15 minute job, you take the airbox off and remove 6 torx screws. Consequently, many are never changed because the oil change place charges wifey for an air filter they didn't install.

Windows are small, almost like a chop top. If you get a dash prism traffic lights are easier to see.

Get one with the dealer installed running boards, the SS has a 'body kit' with side skirts. Without the running boards or side skirts rocks will tear the hell out of the rear quarters.

Got my 08 in October 07, my wife has driven it some and not killed it- and she managed to kill the trans in a Durango.

In the end- It's a car you buy because you like the looks.

09 and later have the window switches back where they belong on the door. My 09 2.2 stick averages 28-30 mpg. 125k with only rotors and brakes at 110k. Great car for the price.
