I can't launch hard at all, so I had to baby it for the first 60-100' the last time I had it to the track. Went 10.7's launching like that and letting off at half track and finishing the run from the 1/8 to the 1/4 at half throttle
It was only going 115MPH at the end, and was surprisingly stable. Well, stable until the slightest hint of anything going wrong I'm sure
thats impressive what combination do you have for a motor? yea i would be reluctant to make a full pass with a short wheel base high c/g vehicle like that

Love it!

Years ago I built a sleeper 81 malibu myself. It was basically a street legal gutted shell with a heavily built 350 and a four speed. Had a full S&W sportsman cage hidden in it as well. Best part for the sleeper aspect is it was a four door!

First time at Milan they just waved me through inspection expecting a slow ass stock vehicle. Ran the first run of the day and at the end of the track I was met by a very angry official who ordered me to tech immidiately. I asked what the problem was and he barked "You just ran a 10.2 in a POS four door malibu, that's why!"

Everthing checked out fine and I had a great day bracket racing. This was before the big sleeper phase in racing, and the tech guys just kept shaking their heads in disbelief :D

None in my computer, it was back in paper picture days. I'll have to see if I can find some when I get home next week.

Milan gets kinda butt hurt over things like that...they wanted to chat over my 11.4 wagon, can't imagine a 10.2 4dr.

They weren't impressed by my street tires, lack of cage or drive shaft loop.

It's a pump gas 434ci SBC with a single stage plate system. It's setup for the bottle, so it's kind of a pig on just the motor. You can hear in the videos when it actually goes full throttle and when I let off.
I would really like to do a turbo setup though..... Any tips?

Route55,
I'd like to see some pictures too if you can get them, sounds like it was a badass setup!

well im no turbo expert by any means, motor set up is probably like your bottle setup open up the ring end gaps good pistons, lower compression but this is debaatable whether low compression high boost or high compression low boost is better. i got a custom ground camshaft that is setup for turbo from crower. and thick tubing on the headers my first set i built kept cracking so i built this set out of 14g and they seem to be holding up, if i did it again with a turbo this heavy i would mount turbo to frame and put flex between the headers and turbo, there is alot of weight hanging off these headers.

One of the g bodys I had (that particular one was an '87 Monte SS) ran a pump gas 383 SBC that went low 11's@120ish on the motor. We threw a Procharger on it to try and I called Procharger to ask them about the compression and boost. I was told by them you will make a lot more power with lower compression and more boost.
One reason I'd like to do a turbo setup is to quiet things down. They have some unreal noise restrictions at the sand dunes.

yea on the noise this thing is pretty quiet, the video at the drag strip i took the exhaust off it just had the down pipe on it and dumped it under the pass door. i like the lower compression set up too makes them more steetable i think, when your just cruising around with no boost its just a mild 8.5/1 motor.
