Default Snowmobile pricing is insane! Why are people paying these prices?

I'm seeing 04-07 Doo's selling for $5k+ on ebay with 6k miles on them!

What the hell is going on? Asking prices on craigslist for sleds is insane.

With the shitty winter of 2011, I would have thought prices would be down. These emission regulations on the new sleds must be pricing most out of the market for a new sled.

the new sleds are so much better than the first sleds I had but damn they are pricey. I rode my first long track RMK in 2010, I wanted one so bad until I heard what they cost. 10K + for a toy you use a few times a year, if it snows, is ridiculous.

Why have you not started a sled forum yet?
Is www.greatlakesshittybarcruisers.com taken yet?

Wow! I guess you're going to have to move to a location where it snows enough to justify owning an expensive sled

I'm not selling mine, ever. It's paid for, owes me nothing, and will last forever in it's current state. It has just over 1600 miles on it. Jugs and cylinders are fogged, gas tank and fuel system empty, and rave valves well lubed with non drying grease.

When my Grand kids are 16, I'll pull it out, and fuel it, fresh oil in the injection, and ride off through the drifts.

Seeing the same thing in PWCs.

Higher sticker price of EFI/enhanced induction 4-strokes is causing the last generation of simpler two-stroke machines to hang onto their value longer.

I think the soft market for toys over the last few years has also reduced the overall population, edging prices up as well.

I call BS on there prices. I bought a brand new 2011 Skidoo summit sport 146 600 for my wife for $6700 last year. I bought a 2011 Polaris PRO RMK 163 for $10,300. The prices you are seeing for used sleds is insane.

They're spending their money on snowmobiles before the end of the world in December, just as the Mayans foretold...
