We did this to a service adviser at the dealer I work at a few years ago. Clocked 3 zip ties at different positions on the rear drive shaft on his CR-V. Then laughed our asses off when he left for the day. Stick on wheel weights are also great for pranks like this.

My buddy and I cut up a bad extension cord and tied it around another buddy's driveshaft with about 3" hanging off. He drove about 10', jumped out of his truck and was cussing like a sailor. His dad called us later saying that we had to pay to replace his ujoints because they were ruined. We just laughed and hung up.
