I don't get it either. I like to drive a nice vehicle as much as the next guy but I'm not going to rent the rest of my life or live in a house on wheels to afford it.

I owe money on nothing but my student loans. the only reason I lease my cabin is because i don't want it long term. I know there are a few tire shops here that will finance your lift, rims and tires.

My other toy is still on the road.
It was much quicker to buy another toy verses putting time into getting my old one back on the road........I did recently sell my old rims and tires off it to put towards a new set of 37's

But they will be a different rim size, because god works in mysterious ways.

I've also noticed that folks in Vegas, FL, and Cali will drive on tires that the hardest-core hooptie jocks wouldn't run here.

Some people just aren't smart enough to look at they're tires, or know what they're seeing. After 7 years at a dealership, I've lost count of how often I hear "can you look at my tires and tell me if I need new ones?" (typically the tires they're asking about don't even have a hint of tread left). It's like they don't understand that if you can't see tread you need new Tires. Of course these are the same dumbasses that come to the dealer to have air put in the tires because the tire pressure monitor light came on.

After seeing top gear drive a Yaris off road, I'm convinced that lifts are totally unnecessary.

X2 on what has already been said. Some probably purchase it from the dealer with the lift/tire package and finance the additional $4k the dealer chargers for their "Super blinged out offroad package!!1!1"...which pushes their payment beyond affordable.

Said truck probably hasn't had an oil change in 10k+ miles either.

Then again , Im just speculating and stereotyping. I really don't know, or care.

I almost bought a super clean 06 duramax crew last winter. It was loaded to the Max, lifted and tuned up big time. I wouldn't have financed much between cash and trade in but I realized it was a time bomb. Still driving my old truck, still not regretting it.

I see it all the time as well and it shocks me as well.

First thing I did after I got my F350 was go get some new tires for it. Damn thing had a set of dry rotted and half bald ass 35s on it. Drove it home praying that I would not have a blow out.

Yea.. I hear that. But, apparently you aren't like "most people". The "most people" im referring to are the ones that barely get approved, and if you can get em approved, itll typically he some astronomical rate of (lets just say for example) 24.9% APR.

Lets say they are looking at a $16k stock truck, and they could get a fancy schmancy lift/tire package installed by the dealer for the low low rate of $4k. You and I would be like....fuck that, I want that 16k truck for 13.5k and ill get that lift kit/tires later on down the road, at a reasonable price and put it on myself. But to people that have shitty credit and are stupid.. Will get suckered in by the salesman's pitch of "But don't look at it like you're paying $4k for it... Because we can roll that right into your financing!!!1!! That'll only bump your payment from $334/month to $417/month!! That's less than $3 per day more...thats NOTHING!!"

(I get my numbers by figuring 16k truck @ 24.9% APR for 60 months... And then 20k truck, same truck--but with awesome lift/tires for an extra 4k for 60 months).

The retards will rationalize it like "Fawk yea!!1!1!! Id much rather have that super badasser truck all lifted for only $3 per day more!!!1! Ill be the coolest retard in my neighborhood!"

Thus giving us nice trucks that are lifted and a person that has stretched their budget beyond their means. IE = cannot afford to replace tires when they need to be.

Salesman = 1 (plus a bomb ass commission check)
Mudbilly Redneck = .5 (at least he has a decent looking truck for a little while, although he paid too much for it and will have negative equity in it for years to come. lol)

I was business management with a financial focus while in college, before I dropped out and went to Welding school. I know the game too well to play it. My current truck was my first bank granted vehicle loan. I had the loan paid off except for 8 months payments after 4 months. I made those payments so I would have a vehicle loan on my credit history.

Same here, except I owe on my wife's car...but I'm not upside down in that either and really don't owe much
