Default DSLR at a beach

I am off to Mexico tomorrow and it has been forever since I have used my dslr. Any advice for what settings to put the camera on for beach shots?

IMO: Circular polarizer is the best $15 you will spend on your SLR for beach shots.
do everything you can to avoid underexposure. Especially if you are going to a light colored sand beach.

I overexposure beach shots by 1-2 f-stops while shooting in light colored sand.

I think I have one of those polarizer thingies. It's just a lens that screws onto the end of the lens, right? I also have a lens hood but I don't think both of them can go on at the same time.

Buy this and whatever adapters you need for each of your lenses:

Use the beach setting with a polarizing filter, then adjust settings based on those recommendations accordingly.

Go full auto focus. You can't go wrong, but don't tell my wife. She's been taking a few photography courses and they tell her not in full auto. But I cheat a little and she wonders how my pics turn out pretty good.

Polarization ftw. A hood will help also. If you camera has a beach setting or outdoor setting; go with that. Or get picky and turn it to either a 100 or 400 iso and run auto focus on your lens. 100 for still shots/portraits and 400 for moderate/slow movement

I have a waterproof camera for this type of stuff!

I'll try that polarizer thingy. I am bringing my laptop so I should be able to try a few settings then pull up the images full size to see what they look like.

You need this if you want to take the good bikini shots without anyone knowing you are doing it. You aim the camera 90* away from the tight ass and big boobies and click away. The wife will never know unless she sees the giant stupid hole in the side of your lens...

If you are not going to put it on the AV setting, I would suggest the Sports setting mode. Due to all of the movement at the beach you will get way less blur (if any at all if bright day)! When not it manual mode, I use the Sports setting (faster shot) for any outdoor activity (sports, etc).

Good luck!
