Default Snow fighter

I have a 78 Dana 60 front axle identified by the Dana BOM as a 1978-79 F-250 & F-350 (Snow Fighter) axle. I searched for info on where the term snow fighter came from but can't find anything. What sets this axle apart and gives it this unusual name? Or is it just a regular Dana 60 front axle?
