The only way they are good is to do a minimum of a SAS, even better with a motor swap.

Here's what I had.

They spent their life on the road because that was all they were "good" for.

If zr2's are so awesome .....why is 99% been changed on yours????

Seriously only way a zr2 could be cool and functional

Is dana 60+ff 14 bolt
Coilover front and rear
Cummins 4bt
zf5 or zf6 trans
doubler transfer cases

Mines is getting dana44 and cab/chassis 14 bolt on leafs

Np231 with upgraded internals
nv3550

That's it.....should help some durability issues

This whole thread.

I have beat mine to hell and back with very little problems. Plus with over 200k miles it still goes. Not as well as it used to, but it goes.

seriously?

the same reason tons of jeeps, toys, etc.... have been modified. the owner out grows the capabilities of the rig so it gets changed to suit the challenges that he/she wants to try.

I'll leave it at that so you don't get too confused.

Chris is a good friend of mine and his Z is a really nice rig, but he's a little farther down the list for SFA zr2s than you might think. ;)

his rig is for sale and hopefully someone gives it a good home soon. very well built rig that will make someone happy.

My jeep is stock except for the rims, tires, axles, steering, suspension, bumpers, seats, fuel cell and pump, driveshafts, radiator, and radio. :)

zr2s are not a good platform to build a wheeling rig out of end of story. yes your truck is awesome, but straight out of the box and sfa jeep will kill a z in durability and wheelability

I don't think comparing an S-Series to a TJ is really an even comparison. Mainly because coil sprung solid axle stock is going to be more capable than IFS with leaf springs.

It would be more of comparing a ZR2 to a Liberty.

I love my blazer, as a weekend wheeler it is great and goes where I point it.

Either way you have to spend money to wheel things and Jeeps are a lot more common and have a HUUUGE aftermarket following so modding and wheeling them is much simpler. Where as the ZR2 market has fallen off not only because they aren't wheeled often and production ended almost 10 years ago.

I just don't understand why everyone has to conform to the same likes.

I love how people think that their nosy/leaky tin can with junk axles is better than everyone else's shit.

having owned a zr2 i can confirm they are noisey cheap underpowered rustbucket pieces of shit, and i would take any jeep with a 4.0 over a z ever again. yours is nice and classy but my wj will follow it anywhere you want to go and all i have is a entry level lift and tires.

why does having some rust matter? sure if your rusting out mounts and shit you have a problem but rocker rust and cab corners dosnt affect performance at all. you dont have to have a pretty lifted jeep to offroad.

I love my jeep, but whatever you have is cool. Obviously not everyone can afford or justify having a $20,000 rig. As long as you have fun offroading that is the important part no matter what you have.

I love my noisy tin can! From the factory jeeps are superior to everything for wheeling. As far as durability both are top notch. The 4.0 and 4.3 are bulletproof as your last motor showed wadey! A built zr2 is just different thats why im a fan of yours
