Default Cold engine rotates and has rough startup

Hello everyone, I've been having an issue with my jeep lately ever since my CPS went and I replaced it. I replaced it about 3 months ago and since then I have noticed that when I go to start it up for the first time in awhile (can be warm or cold out, makes no difference) it will crank very slowly and start but right before it goes to fire it sounds as if it wants to die, it will however start as long as I keep it cranking which takes about 3-4 cranks. Now if im not starting it by hand and use a remote start it wont hold the crank as long as I would and it will begin to start and then just die out, making what almost sounds like a backfiring noise.

Im not sure whats wrong with it but Id like to be able to use my remote start in the winter but right now I wouldnt want to because everytime I go to start it that way, it dies out and makes that noise and I dont want to do any damage.

Now I have heard a backfire before an I know what it sounds like and this is a bit different, its almost like its just letting out the excess gas that it tried to use to start it but failed and makes a muffled noise.

Im almost wondering if the CPS I bought was just a shitty one (got it from autozone it is a duralast) and need to get a different one? Or maybe new starter? Any help would be glady apprechieted!

Thanks
