And they are doing it without warrants. Is this something that they can and should do or is it just an invasion of privicy?

Normally I'd tell him to go get out his tinfoil hat but they should at a very minimum release what type of activities they are trying to detect so the public can agree it is legitimate and not a power grab.

I would be wondering what are they watching for and why.
Also it sounds like a huge waste of tax dollars.

I am not a conspiricy type of person nor am i paronode(sp) by what the government is doing behind our backs or in secrecy. The thought of this admin. giving the go ahead to allow 30,000 unmaned drones to fly the skies of this country. Are they keeping tabs on the borders and illegal activities or buzzing around wasting money?

Here is a link to the actual bill in question:http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-1...12hr658enr.pdf

I didnít read every page, but I havenít found anywhere where it says ďbuy 30,000 spy drones and use them to spy on AmericansĒ. What I see regarding drones is rules regarding their usage, and a requirement that their usage be included in future federal airspace system.

IMO, given the current fiscal situation of this country, this is one of the last things we should be worried about funding.

And the government should be entirely transparent on what they're using them for. Which will never happen - and that's the problem.

Do you realize how many times each day you are on camera being recorded without your consent? Don't think a few more cameras are going to make a difference.

I have a problem with this statement...they sell you on the idea its for your safety, when in reality its for theirs! Cameras are great, but they are a double edged sword

Being watched by traffic cams and others but spending billions of Tax dollars to fly around and watch the American people, that is something completly different.
With more air traffic would that not also be a concern for all the other airlines doing their daily routes across the country and having to be rerouted because of drones buzzing the skies.

Yep, there is a safety concern with drones buzzing around, which is why they put something about it in the H.R. 658: FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.

I still havenít found the part about buying drones and using them to spy on people.

I don't think the government could or would come right out and say that one of the purposes of these drones are to spy on Americans.

Oh, right, that parts a secret. So where does it say that they are going to buy 30,000 drones?

It's inbetween the lines
I guess we don't have an exact number of drones, but maybe with your contacts you could help me with that

Dhs has been sucking up ammunition on civil disobedience Quelching nation wide scale, millions and millions of rounds. Now they have drones. Tyranny is the next logical step.

The number of drones that bill authorizes the government or anyone else to buy is 0.

Unmanned aircraft are already in use in our skies. All this bill does is asks the FAA study if, and how they may be safely used, to write rules governing their use, and to consider their usage in future national airspace systems.

Thatís all.

Just wait until martial law is declared. You'll be eating crow because that's all that'll be available.

Right, first the government gets stockpiles of guns and ammunition (for about the last 236 years), then they get aircraft (for about the last 100 years), but it will be the addition of unmanned aircraft (which they already have, and this bill changes nothing about that), that obviously will lead to tyranny and martial law. It all make sense now.
