Picked up a new crate motor for the Jeep....

....well....a motor in a crate, 1995 TBI 350 with 150k, was pulled and replaced at a dealership due to leaking coolant only to find a rusted though freeze plug. I'm going to freshen it up with some new gaskets, oil pump, cam, timing set, intake and water pump. It will sit on the shelf until the tired old 350 in the Jeep finally gives up.

Huh? No sour deals here.

If you're talking about the dealership that pulled the motor I just bought, they told the owner of the truck about the freeze plug as soon as they spotted it and offered to fix the plug and put the motor back in, but he decided to stick with putting in a new crate motor. One of the mechanics bought the motor from the dealership to keep on hand for his truck but decided he wasn't going to keep his truck long enough to need to swap motors.

I don't feel like I got any sort of raw deal, if you feel that way, well... that's just dumb.

I have a rig that I can wheel and that makes me happy, period. Yes it has issues, but I like solving issues. The motor doesn't HAVE to be replaced, it runs fine, and I can beat on it all day long without it getting hot or acting up, it smokes a bit when it hasn't been driven for a few days and just feels a little tired, I like having a "plan B" to minimized down time.

The trans feels a lot stronger with the new filter and pan that isn't smashed in, the fluid was a bit burnt and I will build up a replacement, again, nice to have a "plan B".

I'd love to sit on here all day and chat about what the Jeep is or is not, but I think I'll go out in the garage and tinker on it instead....or better yet, go wheelin.

If the seller and buyer are happy with the deal, it's nobody's business............ period.

Aaron, glad you are having fun with it.

TJ, glad you don't have a reason to scream anymore.

...tried to winch but the winch wasn't cooperating, had to swap wires on the motor to get it to spool in....

The winch gave up completely so I had to walk back to the parking lot and get my truck and trailer so I could winch the Jeep out with the trailer winch....suck...

I also manange to shave about a pound of aluminum off of my passenger rear H2 wheel...we'll see if that starts giving me problems.
That first crawl doesn't look bad but once you're on it you have to be pretty selective with your line. If you ever run into a problem out there again you can always give me a call 989 eight eight nine 6565.

And landj can walk to the rocks from his front door in about 5 minutes. I'm shocked he didn't hear you out there.
