Default Yzf 450 vs crf 450

Always been a diehard Honda guy. But for some reason lately I've been considering a Yamaha. Might just be Rome for a change. Been riding hondas the past 9 years almost. What do you Gus have to say about them blue bikes?

Should I just stick with my 08 tried and true crf 450 that's fresh and runs healthy.

Got an '06 YFZ, I love mine. I've never ridden any of the other 450s but performance wise they are all so close to the same. Everyone has personal preference but unless you have ridden them for yourself it's hard to know what you would prefer.

You should talk to someone who has ridden both, or test drive them both for yourself.

I tend to not listen to people who say one is shit over the others without some reasoning or personal experience.

A buddy has one and seems to like it, but the balance is weird with the tilted back motor. The airbox seems like a cluster fukc for servicing the bike and the coiled exhaust is different. I'm sure it's a great bike but if I was in the market I'd look at the Kaw and KTM.

How much for your un-fixed crf? As if I need another project...

I would try to arange to ride one of each and see how it feels.Everyone says the yammi handles like shit,it might,if you are enough of a rider to tell a difference. Most people saying the yammi handles bad have probobly never riden one.
I would buy a yamaha for reliability period.Im older and dont ride well enough to care if the honda is a litttle more flickable or tracks better,or whatever.
I also believe a good suspension guy can probobly make the yammi handle as well as the honda with a little work.Maybe not to satisfy the pro rider, but for average people.
I've always said that it doesnt matter if it is a lawn mower or a piano, honda or yamaha is going to build a good product.I still believe that. With hyper four strokes,I think yammi has the gets the reliability crown.

I love my new yz450f, and my 07 yz450f. both handle great and are very reliable. i have my 07 set up for racing hare scrambles/trial riding. it has bark busters, 18" rear with tubless kit, and wr450 tank. the stock suspension is easier to get working well on the trail than most mx bikes. i raced a gncc on my 05 honda and it beat me to death by the half way point. air filter changes on the new bike are kind of a clusterfuck and nothing in my warehouse of parts for the old bike fits it. only down sides so far. if i were to buy another bike this year it would be the new wr450f or 2013 honda 450. the new honda looks sick. so does the 13 ktm450, or 250sx, or 250xc, or 300xc. or yz250 two stroke. too many possible toys and too little time and $$$

the new kx450 seem to be a good bike, but my 04 suzuki/kawasaki colaboration abomination scares me away from buying anything yellow or green. i have had best luck with yamaha followed closely by honda.

I look like a giant on my dirt bike. A 250/450 under you must look like an 80.
