Full Moon PSA

PSA: There is no scientific evidence that moon cycles have any effect on human behavior.

I have some of the dumbest facebook friends ever. No less than two over the past year have made the assertion that their days at work were worse because of the full moon. I kindly say not to worry because there is no correlation, and I am then inundated with anecdotal evidence to the contrary. After exhaustingly citing scientific research in support of my claim, AND to the point that the driving force of their wrong convictions/observations, called confirmation bias; I have come to the conclusion that most people are too dumb to learn.

So take this PSA and spread the word that full moons do not influence behavior, and get the weak minded all worked up. Maybe their heads will explode and all will be well in the world.

Good day

Here is a link to the literature for those who have poor google or database fu. http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl...;2C23&as_sdtp=

I did a google scholar search so most of the articles, if not all, should be accessible.

There is a difference between a hospital setting a EMS field work. You would be amazed the stupid stuff that doesn't go to the ER. I don't doubt that scientific studies dispute it, but it sure seems like the nut cases come out when the moon is full.

I think maybe the EMS guys see more nutcases during a full moon because nutcases want to use the full moon as an excuse to be bigger nutcases.

I have nothing to back this up other than a gut feeling, which I'm sure there is research to prove that doesn't exist either.

maybe people just use it as an excuse to act stupid, but did the research look at say 911 calls on full moon nights as opposed to non full moons?

Or maybe a full moon gives better visibility for people to be out doing things..........
I know we are much more likely to be outside later when the moon is out.

I'm a critical thinker so I will listen to the scientific findings. The only think I can think of that would contribute to increased activity would be more light at night to be active by. As far as magic moon powers, it's all bullshit.

Whiterhino posted this same information while writing this.

So what. Is there any harm in people believing the myth? I can't think of any.

And here I thought it was residual spin from the formation of the solar system.

Silly me.

I agree, after 13 years of working ER, I would say the full moon brings on some odd stuff.
