The post sounded a lot like a guy having a mid-life crisis.

Never take fitness advice from an internet jester with >14k posts.

Cyclocross is a hoot. Best thing I've found is not having to load the bike in the car and drive it to the trails.

Yeah, no midlife crisis here..... yet, I just don't want to turn into all of you

I'm 27 and still in better shape than most, but no where close to what I used to be cardio wise.

Nothing crazy, but I ran 2 miles in 25 minutes on Saturday and I haven't ran in literally two years. I have put 11 miles on my MTB this summer, 7 on the road and 4 on the trail. So I wouldn't consider myself in shape by any stretch, but I'm also not going from a 300 pound cheeto disposal machine either.

I don't plan to really be competitive its more of a personal goal to keep me motivated and on a schedule. If I don't have something to shoot for, I wont get off my ass.

Thanks for all the advice so far, I'll keep looking and seeing what is out there, and also check out the beginner tri site.

Good luck to ya, and yes, the older you get, the tougher to stay in shape. I used to be able to drop 20lbs just by eating salads for a week.

Meh, I'm pretty good.

Healthy. Good kids. Nice home. Good wife.
Can complete a triathlon and see my pecker under my stomach.

Pretty good actually.

Good to hear. Too old to start triathlons, can see my pecker if I look at just the right angle.

Overall, not bad. Nobody has made me a grandpa yet.

Why? That just means that my kids are waiting for marriage, and the financial ability to raise children.

No one's arguing, it's a conversation.

Hey, aren't you supposed to be ignoring me?

Don't be mad because you cannot see your pecker under your stomach at ANY angle.

My post had no reference on your kids. It had to do with the defeatist attitude you have about being worthlessly fat and worthlessly old. If I ever sound like that big of a bitch id rather be dead.
