I actually have a set of keys to it, but I'm an honest person and it was only rightfully mine until I turned 18, but I am willing to pay good money for it, to whoever actually has it if he doesn't. I want it more as a keep sake than anything

Default Indian's Old Jeep

I actually do a search for this Jeep every few months. It was the one that opened my eyes to the potential of a strong imagination and not being afraid of trying something new. This thing was a good ways ahead of its time at the time. When I was about 12 or 13 years old Indian broke down in it on 55 just outside of Memphis traveling to Florida I think. My dad towed it to his shop and found that the transfer case took a crap and he pretty much needed another one. My grandfather ended up rebuilding it because they couldn't find one reasonably enough locally. I believe it was a NP205?? During the time he was hanging out to get it fixed him and my grandfather became pretty good friends (Indian was a likable guy) and later while traveling he would stop and hang out for a few days. I've always wondered what ever happened to the Jeep and I've also wondered if Indian was still kickin. That Jeep inspired me to build the Jeep I built and is still my inspiration to build another one.

Guys like Indian are few and far between and there will probably never be a group of guys like the "Old Schoolers" were. When they go they take a set of skills with them that it took a lifetime of doing everything on your own to achieve. Now days if you want to do something you do an internet search and get advice from someone that has already done it. Or you can go to a forum and get a whole group of people from all over the country that have various amounts of knowledge in different areas that can give advice. Those guys didn't have that luxury they failed until they got it right. Not saying that I don't appreciate that luxury because it does save a lot of time, effort, and money in the long run.

Sorry for your loss and good luck on getting the Jeep back.

Thanks, I wish he was still around, he is the cause of my love and passion for motorcycles and cars.. Its good to know there's still people who haven't forgotten him. I figured since I haven't been able to find it, I'd build a replica of it.

Indian is no longer politically correct. I motion that we change his name to "native american" from here forth.

i think i have a few second video of that jeep on some old tapes. I remember people in the video saying "hey thats indians jeep" from the early 90s.

dont get caught up on the past like that. I always wanted to find and buy back my dads fj-40. well last year it popped up on craigslist and i hadnt seen it since 1993 when he sold it. after seeing it again I let it go and realized it was better off as my great childhood memories. than an old truck sitting behind my barn.

If you have the your Grandfathers will and it states that he left it to you then you should have some legal standing on the loss of it from your grandfather friend.

If I were you I would go after him and sue his ass if there is some legal grounds.

But I wish you the best of luck getting it back.

I have my first car sitting right next to the barn, resting comfortably under a car cover, with a waterproof tarp over that, waiting for space in the barn to be put away for the snowy season.
