My friend's girlfriend is spending close to $15k to save a 11 year old Shih Tzu from cancer. I don't get it either.

This thing had cancer too. it was a inbred, retarded pitbull. I have had 6(ish) dogs in my life, had to put a couple of them down old yeller style. you bury it, cry and get a new dog.

Wow I totally agree with both of you on this. Once the vet bill costs more then what the dog cost, its time to put them down.

It is not that she is dumb, but emotional about her pet. To each their own.

For me I would only spend that amount IF my dog was some super awesome pure breed that I could make a profit from by continued breeding.

Otherwise bubye

I have spent that and my lab is doing GREAT thank you very much. The choice is your own to make based on what you can and are willing to afford. Obama didn't give me my money so why should you or any other asshole be able to tell me how to spend it? Discretionary spending is just that.. whether it be cars, boats, guns, boob jobs.. or whatever the else you want to spend your money on.
In conclusion go fukc yourself and your mother too.. jackass!!

I paid good money for my 5 year old beagle to get knee surgery last year. I'd do it again for any of my dogs...

When you have kids and your dog will put itself between a bigger dog and one of your kids to protect them, you'd understand...

Ahhh... <3

Honestly I'd spend 5 grand on my lab again in a heartbeat and not think twice. However 99% of the population of this world I wouldn't give a fucking nickle to. I love animals, hate people, and I'm a horrible person. I made peace with that long , long ago.

How people spend their money really doesn't mean two shits to me. $5 on a coffee, $50 on a lunch, $200 on a pair of blue jeans, $2000 for a dog, $5000 to fix a dog, $10000 on a gun, $50000 on a Jeep, $100000 on a boat, $1000000 on a house...whatever I really don't fucking care. As long as you can afford it and it doesn't involve you having an impact on my life or my tax dollars to do so, all the power to ya.

My little lady can't be replaced. She is a pituitary dwarf, purebred Boxer. We have well over $7500 in vet bills, hospital stays, blood tests, MRI, CT scans, medicines, etc.

I would pay every dime again, she's a beautiful little girl.

Pics of Boxer.

That said, I balance the age with the cost. Our old Collie had a few grand into her (when she was young), and I would do it again, but when she was past the age of 12 and the arthritis was so bad she could barely walk it was time.

You need to understand that some people spend the money on their pets b/c they dont have children and those pets are the children. I have meet people that have named there dogs after people giving the a full First, Middle and Last name and will do anything for them.

I got a $50 dollar dog from a friend that could not keep him do to the place she was living in changed the pet rules. I brought him home and he became so attached to me that I do consider him my second child. I spend almost ever moment of my days with the dog so when he go a hold of some toothpaste and eat it as a puppy I spent 500 bucks on him to save his life and it has been well worth it. This dog has helped me threw a lot of hard time over the past three years and I would spend that money all over again on him.
I LOVE MY DOG.
