Those Jeeps were press release vehicles to showcase new mopar performance part offerings for the most part. The engineering on them was well done, they were built to be used, not just picture queens.

I get calls from chyrsler sometime, now my first question is always "Is this a direct position?"

Sometimes you just need the right skills Andy, and not take 8 years to get a bachelor's degree.

Im extremely happy with my direct position being a supplier Jeff. If i didn't have the right skills i wouldn't be where i am now.

I've always liked the FC Jeeps. Every one I've ever looked at has been rotted beyond my desire to fix.

If I didn't have to relocate i'd consider taking a contract position. But i can't see moving 900 miles for a Contract position

So you aren't direct but they promised you had a better chance?

Over the last 2 years I can tell you this. I've had two of my 13 contractors go direct at Chrysler. They were both bsme / bsee and under the age of 30. Non degreed and non bsme/bsee candidates I've been told will have zero percent chance of direct hire in engineering positions moving forward. From hr.

If your classified otherwise obviously that's different. Chrysler is doing some good things, I hope it works out well for you.

How does the -t factor in on that Chad? Seems I can only find -t's up where I'm at now. With experience it makes no diff from what I can tell but upfront hiring it's a sticky subject.

From what I've gathered a bsmet or bseet doesn't take some of the higher level math and engineering courses s a fair amount of hiring managers and hr don't recognize them as engineers for pure engineering positions. In some of the more hands on positions from time to time it doesn't seem to be as big of a deal. It really varies by company and hiring manager.

In my opinion I think its more about the right guy then it is about the degree....but that also will vary based on expectations of the position.

I can say after 4 years being Contract at Chrysler, I am direct as of today.
48 years old, no degree.

Jeff, what group will you be in?
