Default 2012 f -150

I am looking at buying a new truck and really like the looks of the f-150. I found a 2012 for a hell of a deal that has a 5.0 v-8 in it. Are these engines solid engines? My only experience with fords have been with a 4.0 and the 5.4 triton which the headaches of that triton were enough to make me black list all fords for a solid 5 years.

Any input is appreciated.

From my understanding the 5.0 is a 4.6 with either a stroke or a bore, and spray liner cylinders....

I have a 2011 FX4 screw with the 5.0 and love it, 360 HP make it move quite well and the flood of aftermarket mustang goodies are usually a simple bolt on. check out http://www.5startuning.com/2011-f150-5L/index.html for upgrades. The 5.0 is a very solid engine and they seem to take very well to supercharging

That is pretty interesting. A lot of people seem to love them from what i can find. I was also thinking about getting the one with the eco boost, it is a bit higher price tag since it does not qualify for the rebates that the one with the 5.0 does and is not as an already discounted rate like the one i found but i am willing to spend more if it is an all around better engine.

I know a handful of people with the ecoboost and they all love them. My grandpa pulls about 21 mpg on the e-way empty and it also tows like a dream.

Some people like the EB some don't. I could not take the turbo lag and the one I test drove for 3 days showed the dreaded "stand on it to merge and it falls on it's face syndrome" once and that was enough for me. Drive them both for a few days and decide, I really don't think you could go wrong with either. Be sure to watch the MPG's on the EB as they are not getting near the claimed mileage but they do pull like mules.
