Co2 hydro testing

I need to get my tank hydro tested this week. Anyone know of a place near Brighton/Novi area that will do it quick?

The Google was not much help.

Around here, the local welding company does it. Also, some SCUBA shops will do it also.

I don't know ANY scuba shops in the state that hydro their own tanks...they all send them out to be done and charge you about double what it costs them. Find they place they send them to and you can usually get it done for half the cost...speaking of which I have four tanks I need hydro'd

Just because you aren't personally aware of one, doesn't mean any of them do it.

May be a bit too far but Aegis by the Silverdome sent mine out for me and they give a GL 10 % discount on fills. I think it was $40 to be serviced. Took awhile to get back but they gave me a loaner at cost of what I used only.

That's the cost of doing business.

go find one then...I've looked. I bet you come up with nothing. The equipment used to do the hydro testing costs WAY to much for a sucba shop to do on their own, let alone the yearly certifications and so fourth. They just wouldn't have the volume of business to support it.

No shit? I don't mind them making a couple of bucks for doing it for me, but double? If they do anything, they drop the tanks off and pick them up. However if you talk to these sucba people they will act like they are doing you the biggest favor in the world and it causes them alot of work. I someone dislike sucba shop owners for this reason.

Well, how much is "double"? $5, 10, 100?

Before you answer, the cost of doing business is at least $50/hr. Period. So, if it takes them 15 minutes, $12-15 is appropriate. Now, who covers the shipping cost to move your tank to the test facility and back? If it is the store where you dropped it off, this needs to be factored in. How far is it being shipped? By what what method?

The Gentleman from T.C. is on the right track. A place that services fire extinguishers is your best bet, and can normaly have it done for the next day.

I get all of this...however I wont pay it when I can drive down the street and get it done right at the shop that does it. Why on earth would I want to pay more for the same service? To me, if I owned the shop I wouldn't charge as much. I think the last time I check at "The Dive Shop" in flint they wanted $50 a tank. The place that hydro's them in holly charges $15-20 a tank. Now if my business is selling expensive shit to people I would cut down the cost of the hydro testing, to get people in the door, in hopes they would buy something else. However like I said beofre I haven't meet a dive shop owner that hasnt had his head up his ass

Including the guy at the Dive SHop in Flint. My son and I took the lessons from him during the winter. He was trying to save money by barely heating the pool. He wore a wet suit, we froze our asses off while listening to his booring stories while not learning shit.
