Default So Hosejockey showed me something funny...

...right before he deleted some of my posts on Misfits. :tonka:

Prior to deleting the heckling, he mentioned that a number of vendors actually call high-pinion gears "reverse rotation" all over their sites and provided some links, which I found absurd - and like a true asshole I said they were all wrong. The gearsets don't rotate in the opposite direction in a reverse spiral or reverse cut (high pinion) axle. It would seem to me that a vendor would at least get that right for fear of sounding ignorant. I can't see a reason as to why anyone would do this.

Wow, welcome to 1988. People have been calling them reverse rotation for years.

Reverse cut is the proper term.

Talk about what? People call stuff the wrong names all the time.

CV driveshaft, Posi = Lockers, etc...

What drives me nuts is when I go to an auto part store and call a part a name they don't think is right and I get attitude from them. Axleshaft u-joints = wheel joint, blah, blah, blah...

Kind of like the proper name for a drive shaft is a prop shaft.

Or if you set gears up like me...then the terms are full humming, partial humming, or full grinding.
