Default Hey Computer Geeks!!

Looking at HP Envy 15" 3040NR. My son is looking for a lap top for college (games).

Is this too good to be true? It lists for like $1150 on HPs web site.

http://pcgamesi.com/hp-envy-15-3040n...ck-silver.html

Id like to mention that I never mentioned Schweeb in this entire post.

I never heard of that website before but anyway I run into a lot of problems with HP. Things like hinges, touch pads, touch keys and other things stop working correctly.

Avoid HP laptops.

I used to recommend Acer, but the latest ones I've seen seem flimsy.

If it's for serious gaming, Alienware if the price doesn't scare you- otherwise look at their specs and try to get something close at newegg or microcenter.

Any suggestions? The HP 3040NR has a 15.6" screen, 2.2 GHZ, 8GB Ram, 750 GB hard drive. Looking for something along these lines but trying to not spend a ton of $.

We have about 75 HP laptops in service at my company. The only issues that we have are a couple failed hard drives, but, that's to be expected when you have people carrying their laptops to and from work without cases....

I suggest you either learn to like slow gameplay, or decide to spend the money for a gaming computer.

Please explain... For one, this is for my son. It is supposed to be for college but of course he wants to play games on it. So you have to spend over $1150 for a lap to if you want to play games on it???

Basically, yes.

You might find a deal on one that has the graphics card ability for higher frame rates, etc- but generally 'Gamer' computers- especially laptops- are big bucks.
It may have sounded smart-assy, but in a nutshell you either spend bucks, or have choppy game play.
