Any one ever buy a gun from Gunbroker.com

Ive been looking around for a nice handgun, either a .40 or a .45. I have heard a lot of good things about Kimbers and i think thats the brand im leaning toward. I plan on getting my CCW, so thats where i stand. I havent gotten up to Guns Galore in Fenton in a while, though i will after xmas is over. I was curious about if anyone has bought a gun from gunbrokers.com and whats involved with doing so.

Guns galore will beat ANY price.

The problem is Gungs galore people aren't very friendly, and don't go in there to get any info, because they aren't very helping.

After you find out what gun you want, go there and tell them you want such and such model, and tell them the best price you found.

It'll have to involve a FFL-licensed dealer if shipping is involved.

Unless you have a friend / relative with the current FFL credentials, plan on paying a fee.

I like to support the local businessman (although I'm occasionally guilty of making a chain store purchase). I recommend the folks at Wolverine Guns on Toledo Rd in Brownstown Township (right off I-75). Good folks, helpful, and have always matched the best price I could bring them.

For a carry gun, the 3" & 3.5" small-frame 1911-style Kimbers .45 are very nice. Likewise the Para-Ordnance.

I'd also recommend the Springfield Armory small-frame 1911 - well made and more reasonably priced. I'm thinking of one someday for a primary carry weapon.

I would just go to Guns Galore. But you will need a note from your mother and they may start you out on a 22CA first.:tonka: :tonka:

Skooter... even if you do buy a gun you're still gonna be a little bitch and you're still gonna get your ass kicked everywhere you go

Don't waste the money. Buy yourself some mace or something. Even if you do get a gun it'll probably wind up on the ground with you crying about how your wrist hurts

Don't like the safety (or more accurately, lack thereof) on Glocks. Very well designed and built otherwise.

Sigs are nice too - just too pricey for what you get. For the money, gimme a Beretta or a Ruger. If you wanna spend money, HK USP is about the best you can get, period.

wow! where is all this comming from. Yes i want a CCW, but dont plan on carrying. Im not a gun fanatic, at the moment all i have is a Beretta 12 gauge, a ruger 10/22, and a ar-15. I want a hang gun to round out what i have now. I have shot large caliber handguns before (.50 desert eagle, and a .500 s&w) neither have hurt me before.

FYI, Skooter pays me & Bio Bill 1 can of per month to watch his back. I am pretty sure you are not man enough to make either of us earn our so we may have Skooter take care of you himself

I love My Kimber (4" barrell, Stainless & Black 1911)
I Love My Sig (P220)
My Ruger is ok (P70)
My Taurus Millenium is allright, It's nice for ankle carry but not that comfortable.

Out of all of them I think the Sig is the most comfortable in the hand with the Kimber as a close second. The taurus is last.

I was never fond of the feel of a glock.

if you want to know which pistols will hold up to major abuse talk to PavmentPounder, i'm sure he would have some good reconmendations on which pistols will take the abuse, seeming he's just got back state side from Iraq and sure has carried side arms along with his fellow soldiers

a couple of comments

I'm competitive handgunner and NRA certified to teach the CCW class for Michigan.

If you haven't been to Guns Galore in awhile, I'd encourage you to try again. Their customer friendliness has improved in the last year or so.

To buy a gun from anywhere out of state means that it has to ship to an Federal Firearms Licensed person. The transfer is from the seller to the FFL holder, then to you. On Gunbroker, there's a link to search for FFL's who will do transfers. Guns Galore will do them. Mike Ryan is listed on Gunbroker and his fee is $25, I think. I've done a couple of deals with Mike and can recommend him.

As far as what to buy, who knows? The big names have been thrown around. Consider the action and size. Then find a caliber that you prefer. I'm NOT trying to start any arguments here, but don't forget about revolvers. They are a very viable choice in many circumstances. Here's my offer: If you want to try a few different examples of pistols os revolvers, PM me and we'll see what we can set up.

Now for the shameless plug... I teach CCW classes at Fenton Lakes Sportsmens Club. Classes are full until February, but if you're interested in learning more, PM me.
