Red face I dunno if it is me becoming older or if it is the economy, but

A lot of people I know are having kids in their 40's!!
Just seems an odd age to have a kid.
Im all for kids and I know medical field today can handle most any child birthing circumstances.
Must be because Im becoming older.....

i agree that the parenting age is getting older. I have a bunch of friends that are now just getting married and not planning on having kids for another 5-or so years.

im 29 and have a three y/o and one on the way and i dont think i would want kids later in life. I want to be young enough to enjoy them not only when they are young but when they are older and out of school and maybe someday get to enjoy there kids.

I'll tell you first hand that having a child at 30 was much more enjoyable for everybody than having one at 19. I thoroughly had a blast raising my youngest, it was a breeze compared to scraping by at 20 years old trying to support a family with shit jobs. My whole demeanor was different for no reason at all, it was just a more pleasant experience.

Having a child at 19 is tough based purely on a maturity stand point. If you're not financially stable it is tougher.
The above is applied to any age I guess.

My mom and dad were 33 and 38 when they had me and I am the oldest of 3 and I'm 19 now. I feel bad for my youngest brother who is 4 years younger than me. My dad was in a car accident last year and it has been a slow physical recovery for him. I guess it's a good thing my brother has no interest in doing anything besides playing computer games.

I am 27 and have 8 year old. I love it and hate it.
Biggest thing is I have never been able to scrap enough money together to get out of my house and on my own b/c of having all the stuff that come with have a kid.
But if I am going to have a 2nd kid I want to do it before I am 35. I do not want to be one of the people who has a kid when they are 40+ and have to deal with it a 18 year old in my 60s. Just dose not seem fun to me.

I think a lot of people are getting married later in life too. Out of the people my age I know, only about half are married.

Overall it's taking longer to get financially stable, get in a serious relationship, etc.

Then again, if you look to the ghetto, none of that matters.

I had my first (who turns 1 next Friday) at the ripe old age of 37. His mother is the same age, and he is her first as well. I'm a little concerned with being too old to play with him as I would have 10 years ago, or not living long enough to see him grow up and have kids of his own, but that's just the way it worked out.
We aren't one of those couples that intentionally waited though. We were together for a year before getting pregnant, and had decided to stop using any type of birth control and just let whatever happened happen. We basically figured if we didn't have any kids soon, we never would.

I was 39 when I had my first child, 41 for the second. They are 6 and 8 now and I'm 47. I wouldn't do anything different. And for the record, Both kids were planed.

I'm oldest son (who is almost 18) has a 3 year old little sister and his dad and step mom are excepting another girl next month. Sons dad is going to be 41 this year.. There is no way I would want to start over at this age.. My kids are almost 18 and 12, I'm 40... The next babies that I want running around here are gonna be grand kids, and hopefully that doesn't happen anytime soon..

Well I'm 34 and was told when I was 28 that I couldn't have kids due to cancer when I was younger, and other medical issues. So one day out on the boat my wife was getting seasick(which never happens ) well now she's three months pregnant. I'll be 35 when she gives birth. Kinda scarry actually.

The wife and I were 30 when we had our first who turned 4 almost a month ago and his little brother showed up 2.5 years after him. We don't plan to have any more.

I will be 40 when I have my first and only child. I grew up the child of a teenage mother with no father (he was dead, not a deadbeat). I NEVER wanted my kids to want and need like I did. I am sure when I was younger I would have had more energy, but on the other hand now I have more patience.
People are living longer, why doesn't it make sense that people wait longer now to have kids.
