Default D&R Driveline

Up at the blessing I blew out my rear drive shaft. I finally got around to getting it fixed. I dropped it off at 4:55, Friday night. I dropped of my blown rear, and a rusted stuck front that I picked up from FlamesFearme. When I dropped it off, I was told best case senerio I was looking at 250.00, worst 550 for both of them to be totally rebuilt. They were both in rough shape. They called me this afternoon and told me I was all set to pick them up. My dad was just down the street, so I paid for them over the phone, and he picked them up. I was just sent these pictures: (sorry for the shitty quality of pictures.. My dad has a blackberry )
Rear:

Front

Other end of front.

These are the box of the damages parts that they replaced.

So essentially, I received a totally new rear shaft, completely rebuilt front shaft all for 305.00.

I know I've heard grumblings from people that D&R is over priced ect... When I was at the blessing the few vendors that were there, just for the rear I was told 350+. Just thought I'd share a happy experience from D&R.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Dennis from DnR is a douche! His prices are good ill give him that and maybe in the past few years he has gotten better but every single one of my dealings with him have been painful and it was like pulling teeth to get him to build shit to me the paying customers specs he always wanted to short cut it or tell me how there is no way my way would work.

He can come across as an arrogant one, but when you're good, you can kinda be that way.

I've used them for years. Just had another shaft done for my XJ, retubed and a new joint for $100. I have no complaints.

When I did my Cummins Swap I had to move my driveline back about 4" so the rear shaft need to be shortened and the front had to be lengthen. Took both shafts to D&R, and for $300.00 they got them done with all new U joints, they were done in 2 days.
Great Job, and a great price!

This seems to be a common issue in any service industry these days. When I tell you what I want, give me a price and time on doing exactly what I said...dont give me a lecture on why it wont work....especially when you have no clue what i'm doing / working with.

I agree with that logic but can also see it from the business's perspective. How many PITA customers would or already have bitched up a storm because the part didn't turn out right even if built exactly to the provided spec? They'll go off about why you didn't tell them this, you should've warned them of that, blah, blah, blah. It's probably a lot easier for him to be a bit of a pain up front and second guess your info(like you said, he has no clue what you're doing) than to build it once, have it not work, and not only have to redo his work, but also listen to an annoying customer bitching about it. Word of mouth goes a long way in that industry, and you're more likely to hear about them not getting it right the first time than them second guessing the info you're providing them with.

Granted, I've never had any dealings with that company and maybe he's unreasonable about it, but that's my thought on second guessing or double checking the info. Example: Simplemanlance just got a driveshaft built locally and provided them with the length he needed at ride height. They built it to that length fully compressed. 30 seconds of questioning would have saved him from having to spend more money and them having to redo their work.

I can see that as well....and I don't mind a few questions.....but I have ran into some people who just go over the top or simply refuse to do anything at all.

If you do what I ask, and it does not work, thats on me and I will take that responsibilty and never say a bad word about your business....thats the way it should be...sadly I am sure it is not.

Where do you get shafts made around GR? Im just curios if you are paying a middleman to bring your shit to Dennis. Most shops in town that sell shafts, sell his.
