Default Wife put my 2500 Ram on its side tonight

I am out of town for work and got a call this evening that my wife was ran off the road and put my 2500 Ram in the ditch on its side. She is fine, but the truck suffered some body damage and ???

Since I am out of town I can't see the truck but only the crappy cell phone pic that she sent (see below). Looks like the following all have damage:

-Grill & Hood
-Drivers side Door
-Drivers side front quarter panel
-Bed
-Running Boards
-Front bumper
-Roof is buckled
-Front drivers side cab/Pillar???

Not sure if it still runs. I was told when it had impact and went on its side that the engine shut off. I don't know if there was any damage to the front axle but by the looks from the photo I am guessing that ball-joints are bad if not more.

Here are the specs: 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 - 5.9l Diesel with ~138,000 miles with a fresh trans.

So do I spend the money to have all the body and ??? work done or sell it off as is and look for something else. The truck still KBB's for ~$8000 (when it is in good shape - lol).

Looking to see if anyone has suggestions regarding how much it would cost for repairing the body damage (ballpark with the info stated above). Also, any suggestions on what to look at drivetrain wise before trying to start it again?

Wow that sux sooo bad. Glad she's ok. But that sux sooo bad. I say fix it. It may not make financial sense, but if your like me and get attached to vehicles, I'd fix mine in that same situation.

Talked to the father-in-law and the roof is buckled... sounds like there might be some damage to the cab.

Was hoping that it would only be the front quarter panel and door and that the cab would be fine.

it looks like there is a scrath in the paint at the wheel well,

I would get it running and wheel the dog shit out of it before the adjuster comes to look.

Talking to the Wife last night I find out that when the guy was trying to pull it out that the hook snapped and it dropped back in. She said it did more damage then as the bed was fine until that happened.

The guy from Auburn towing was a real jerk to her about it. He was saying that it was totalled so it dident matter.... and they were still going to charge the same and he said that he had to take it to his shop. The cop told her that she could drive it home and I made sure that they took it to my house instead of a yard.

So if you are ever in need of a tow stay away from the jerks at Auburn towing.

Someone ran her off the road? Wtf!?!
I hope there was a witness or that she at least kept her shit together enough to get a plate number.
Sorry about your truck, glad your wife is OK.

Not really sure if I really understand her story... I think that she is still confused what happened. No plates or info on the other car.

Getting home this afternoon. If drive train looks well then will start trying to source body parts.

if she got ran off the road into a ditch seems like the damage would be on the passenger side.

Yeah. I would have though the same. She said that she did a 180 when going off the road into the ditch.

She said that when she went to the side of of the road she overcompensated and put it into a spin and slid down a 10 ft ditch.

Wow, glad she is okay and hopefully the truck is fixable or you get enough out of it to replace it.

At this point I don't really care what the story is. My wife is OK, we don't have full coverage in the truck and there was not someone else evolved in the accident.

Looking at figuring out what to do next. Any suggestions on good salvage yards for body parts or suggestions on good auto body guys?

Looks like if the roof is buckled then it most likely will have frame damage. If that's the case sell it for what you can and move on. But if there is no frame damage. It can be fixed for around 7000 with Chinese parts from trojan. If you
Need a body shop let me know I can hook u up with a real good guy.

If your gonna fix it, contact keystone crash parts in Grand Rapids.....that place is huge and one of the cheapest around! I have a buddy that is re-doing his 99 dodge and the prices he was telling me he paid for stuff is ridiculous.....plus most of it is in stock. They supply ALOT of body shops in MI.

Good luck!

I don't have full coverage on it as it is a 13 year old truck. Pulled it 3 years ago and have been putting the money saved away for its replacement. I don't remember the amount the the difference was pretty substantial.

If I decide to sell it off as-is does anyone have good leads on buyers? I have not seen the damage yet but just trying to see my options.
