i hit the huron tonight. dropped in at island lake rec. in brighton and floated to my moms house in hamburg. caught 8 rock bass. was my 1st time hitting that area so i spent more time paddling not sure how long it would take me than relaxing and fishing. I just have the dunhams 10ft special.

if somebody wants to plan a huron run we could use my moms house to start or stop at. easy access right off hamburg and winans lk rd.

I've been told that Portage is pretty good. This weekend we're out of town, but maybe we could meet up at some point. I wouldn't buy anything under 10 feet. 11.5 is ideal for most types of water, still fast enough to get around, and tracks strait in deeper water. 10 footer would also make a good boat for mosr lakes/rivers around Michigan. Stick with a name brand boat, and watch the weekend flyers for Dicks. The have some pretty good deals out there right now. Also the place in Brighton is moving a bunch of demo boats at great discounts right now.

you can get a really nice one for $500. A pamlico 100 would be in that range. A great 10 foot boat with a really nice seat and a dry well.

I have 10 footer and have rode the clinton river once and plan to do it again soon, otherwise usually smaller lakes for fishing.

My buddy has his setup pretty good with a fish/depth finder and a trolling motor, kind of a cheater but it does help on some of those long lakes that seem to keep going, he towed me back once just to test it out.

Huron Medows metro park has a place to drop off of Rickett and Hamel, some people drop off at Silver lake rd and whitmore Lk rd too. That is the closest to US23. Most of the fishing I do on Ore lake is Ice fishing, I do really good on little Ore....around the island. In the summer I bow fish, troll around the flats and shoot Carp and Gar, It's a riot

The wife and I did a portion of the Clinton River this morning. From Ryan Rd. to Heritage Park in Utica.

We both have Wilderness systems Pungo 120's. Finally getting the hang of turning to avoid all the trees.
We go to Stony Creek a lot during the week just to get out. Looking to go to Ann Arbor
to the Argo Cascades sometime.

We did Hamlin Lake in Ludington last fall.
Also the end of the Pere Marquette right off the Pere Marquette hwy. You can put in and Take out at the same spot!
