Default JCR DIY Bumper Kits

Has anyone purchased one of these? I love the way they look but just can't afford a full fabricated bumper. Figured one of these kits would do the job nicely. It looks pretty straightforward but was wondering if anyone has actually done one. Going to be running it on an XJ, was looking at the front winch and std rear bumper with a hitch. Thanks!

Can you weld and grind? That would determine how easy or hard its going to be for you. I'm sure the parts will fit together just fine as it's probably the exact same parts they would use to build it. Just letting the buyer do the real work of the welding and smoothing.

I've put together a few bumpers in this fashion (not the JCR bumpers) and its not to terrible. Used to take me roughly 8hrs of welding and grinding to finish a bumper.

Right on, I have no problem welding and grinding so that's not an issue, I've just never used a kit bumper before. In the past I just made my own and called it good. I really like the look of the bumper and figured as long as "fit and finish" was good it'd be a lot easier and faster to get the kit than to template out and build my own from scratch. If kit bumpers in general though are a PITA and you have to modify most everything that comes in the kit and the gaps are huge, etc. tho then I'd say it's kinda pointless. They seem to be well made/ thought out and I've never heard anything bad about JCR, just figured I'd see if anyone has had any dealings with them before.

My bumpers, and cage are JCR, not the kits , but they make great products, I have seen the kits in person and they look like a great alternative. Go for it

The only issues I had with mine was with the front winch diy bumper. The holes for the winch were off just a bit witch just caused more work and grinding. But other than that all the side holes and tie bracket holes were dead on. All in all it was a good price for a decent bumper. A lot of work time. But still cheaper than there pre built stuff.

Saw the link for these in the upper corner of the site, they do look pretty cool too. Been thinking about getting a rear kit to save me the bulk of my custom bumper fab time and whatnot, then add the modifications to it I was going to custom do anyways, but then lost my job so for now the rear bumper is on hold lol.

I did do another custom bumper thing for the front, bought a Nates 4x4 bumper in pieces and while I still haven't finished putting it together, it is pretty easy. I bought the recessed winch mount bumper for my XJ with the intent to do the winch at a later time. Well, my uncle in Florida mentioned one day he had "an old winch on the floor of his garage...". The issue was getting it home, but about a month ago my dad and I flew down there and drove a car back we bought from my Grandpa and the winch was waiting in the trunk for me:) Turned out to be an older 12,000lb Warn winch!! Totally different mounting setup though than the plate from the bumper kit so now I have to redesign the whole front of it and gusset the hell out of it... Just hope to God it won't tear the front end apart, or the bumper off lol.

Anyone else on here done one of the kits?
