I am with steveo though, I am sure we'll find out its all fake and shit like the moonshiners, but mountain men is pretty fucking cool
no. its easy to set up a fake still, its hard to fake a 30+ year old functioning homestead. they may tize it a little, but its pretty real from what i have seen.

I look at it like this. I can work a couple jobs a year and put enough money in the bank that i can work on my place a couple months out of the year. I am looking at a couple of places in montana that do refinery work. they work 6-8 months out of the year in the billings area. I like billings, my cabin is about 50 miles from there.

Oh, I agree, I think it's cool, but I doubt I'd want to do it full time, but a few months a year or something would be pretty nice.

lol. its a cabin with a outhouse, no running water, no power other than generator, propane gas lights, a wood stove for heat and hot water. its my favorite place. its not the right place to homestead though.

I was just watching this, pretty cool show. The guy in Alaska may end up dead by the end of the season. Rides a half frozen river on a snowmobile to get water, the entire time I am thinking " can't you melt snow to get water?". Plus riding around in a ripped up Carhartt, get wet and your dead. Swaps the track out on his sled, in the cabin, next to the fire, thing is leaking gas everywhere.......Boom!!! Again, dead!
Tom in Montana looks like a pretty cool dude, a "good ol boy" with a cool set up. Thats how I would want to do it, walk out the back door and hunt all day.

That's nothing. You should see what the locals here in Barrow do. Waaaay dumber stuff than that, and yet they only lose a few people a year.

If they were real mountain me there would be no show about them. Must get terribly lonely and boring to the point these "mountain men" agreed to have a show about their lives.

This.

I think that's why 'Fake' was mentioned.

I've said before, TV is retarded.
