Default Thank God for my son

I was ready and had given up on my yj project. I had bought a frame and patched it and installed a 350/700r4/d60.14bolt. I removed the tub from the original frame getting ready to install on the newer frame and WOW so much rust. the p/s rollbar mount floor was completely gone. many of the body mount nuts are gone. I just gave up and hoped I could find a better tub somewhere. No luck. Today my son came over and we looked at it together, a few minutes later he had me encouraged to do the work with his help. Its not easy for me as I am a disabled army vet.(back issues) I have a hard time even standing for 1 minute, and the meds I have been on caused me to put a ton of weight on,making moving even harder. I am so thankful for my son and for his encouagement.

OK now IM done

Life isn't worth living without the people you love. Its cool you guys share interests, a lot of kids these days don't wanna do anything but internet and video games.

I am sad to say but my generation seems to be the one where the internet and video games start to take over.

Now take this encouragement from your son and get this jeep done.

See I have a hard time the other way around, I can't get me pops out to the garage for more than 15mins, and then it turns into an argument, and that's where it ends...tried teaching him how to weld, fab, and make things but he just doesn't get into it, gave up on welding and fabbing, but he does help me out on the parts end, he gets pretty pumped every once and a while and just buys me a tool or part I really need...

Good luck on the jeep, should be fun, lots of fab and welding to do but it will be worth it in the end, he motor/trans/axles are the worst part IMO, body work is just time consuming.

That's a great son you have there. Pat yourself on the back it sounds like you did a good job raising him.

Some motovation always helps and when you get it from your kids it's even better. Keep us up to date on your build.

This is the nicest thing I have ever heard Steveo say. In fact, Steveo didn't say this, I am thinking Steve said it.

Agreed! I can't wait to sit back, drink beer, and watch my son do all the work.

Yes, I know that will not happen.

Same thing here, we both want to do the work and no one wants to get out of the way. It's to the point now we only work alone and then show the other what we got done.

Very cool. My son (he is 8) loves to help me out with projects, but the problem is keeping him stuck on the task at hand. He gets sidetracked worse then I ever did as a kid.
Now as for my Dad and I We work well together and I think we do so well b/c I help him out on the stuff I know how to work on best and vice-verse with him.

My kid wants so badly to start on the supercharging project on our 70 Opel Kadett wagon. I'm seriously broken, and he wants to learn everything NOW. I can't spend alot of time outdoors with him, even though I would love to. He is picking up the basics, but he can barely turn a wrench, much less custom weld tubing, Injector mounts, Supercharger mounts, EDIS system plus install and program a megasquirt system. Anyone that wants to come and give him knowledge on his task at hand, I have every tool needed to perform the installation. I would even supply beer!

Fuck send him over to pwater. I need a good little shop "insert racial slur here" . I am lifting my truck, building a bumper and working on my drag car this summer. He can sleep in my shop and I will feed him if he earns it.
