Default Android Droid X2 phone question

So my phone is over 2 years old, or right at 2 or whatever....anyway, recent it has gotten very slow, I mean 5-10 second delay to open an app, or to type a message/email/etc. Sometimes it is even so slow to answer a call I miss the call.

I haven't yet backed up my contacts, or my photos, but I don't care about anything else outside of that.

1. What's the best fastest easiest non techie guy way to back those things up.

2. is there some sort of way to reset my phone to start working fast and crispy like again?

Do you have your contacts saved under a Gmail account, or on the phone itself?

Open a few contacts and see what it says at the top. It will say either Phone, or kickstand@gmail.com for example.

If they are all saved to google, they stay on the "cloud" and will sync onto a new phone once you add the google account.

Did it start to get really slow after the latest software update? That's usually what happens.

Droids usually have a reset that can clear out running apps and such. It's done by holding the power button and volume down button together until the phone turns off. Turn it back on, and see if it gets any better.

Your contacts should sync with google?

Photos just pull off the phone and the do a factory reset

Google should store all your apps so you will be able to get them back.

The tech at verizon also told me that a hard reset is also needed about monthly to kill off any hanging processes and start off new again too. I am not sure how you do that on a X2 though.

I did a factory reset on my X, and I had to reload all my apps individually, contacts were sync'ed with google though so it went fairly smooth, about time to do it again cause it's getting slow again too.

just check as GM said, I also can back up all contacts with my Verizon online account, this gives me access to those same contacts online, and I can modify them.

hard reset or re-boot?

If I'm thinking correctly, a hard reset would wipe the phone clean just like starting with a new phone (reconnect with Google cloud and all that jazz)
a re-boot would just turn stuff off, but still be there, like a re-boot of a computer, actually, not like, but is exactly that.

It's a reboot. It kills any background or hanging processes. I have the Razr Maxx and it really makes the phone run quicker. I do the reboot almost monthly now.

I have the Verizon Razr and i shut it down and turn it back on every day. Also do a soft reset every other week or so. And it runs flawlessly and is still very quick. I have had it almost 2 years now.

1. I don't think I did that, I think i just have them saved to the phone, I'll begin the process of saving the ones that I care about.
2. It's been getting progressively slower for a while, I have never reset the phone or done anything.
3. That would be great, except......my power button stopped working 3 months ago when my phone laid in a puddle for an hour.

You can still sync your phone with google and it will upload all your contacts to gmail.

Pretty impressive if that's the only thing that happened to it.

I had hoped after it dried out the power button would come back, but no dice.
