I'm still out but just wanted you all to know how painful it is to keep reading about it all the time.

OK, I just mapped out a route for Saturday. Looks like about 105+ miles that will take about 7 hours and some great scenic spots along the way.

That couldn't be further from the truth! Has anyone seen what this man can come up with to fix a Jeep using basic tools and the contents of my purse?

Found a few of these really old pictures to give you an idea what weather changes can be like in Canada. These were taken the same year, the same weekend.
Anyone want to guess the year?

Lunch on the river, Friday afternoon.......................Campsite on Batchawana Road, Saturday Morning

Typical Bridge crossing the Batchawana River............Guess who these people are?

Well, I just spoke with my contact up there. He says going through Hayden the color is 25-30% and looking nice. The color will stay good along the shoreline longer and will drop quicker in the higher altitudes. So, we may be a bit late or we might be right on for perfect color.

I guess since you are headed to Canada and I am not, you might as well hang on to it for now.

I dont know know if your seller is willing, but if he could get them to 75, you might have better luck having someone pick them up. I know that most of the bunch is coming from Oakland Countyish and Port Huronish. Carson City is going to be 2 hours round trip out of the way for anyone cruising up 75.

I could head up 127 which is not to far from Carsom City. It is about the same distance as me coming up 75.

Mulder still looks the same.

Tow rig - check, trailer - check, viable trail rig - check, free weekend and available vacation time - check.....hmmm....

The only thing holding me back from saying "Hell yeah I'm in" is the lack of seat time in my new rig, and the custom 16 gallon aluminum fuel tank that leaks a bit when full and the gas guage that does not work at all....if I can get it TIG'ed and fix the guage I just might see you guys up there.

Yeah, amazing Mulder still looks the same. That was September 1980. The others in the picure were on right, Denny Cool from Grand Rapids area, on left was Greg Talo I believe. And of course the little one in pink is Dana, my daughter. She was around 2ish there. She's now got a 12 yr old and a 7 yr old! I posted that because there had been some discussion of how old do kids have to be in order to have fun. Dana actually remembers bits and pieces of that trip.
I've even got picture of Kim carrying her like a sack of potatoes in the rocks on the shore of the Batchawana river.

Leaky tanks could certainly hold you back. We expect ~150 ish miles round trip on the first day and less the second depending on of course if we find the elusive river crossing that appears on the topo's but is a little less enticing on the aerials.
You know where we stay, time out on Friday is 8:00. Sat is 9:00.
Leave word with Diane at the campground if you're comng. Motel is totally booked with loggers from Searchmont area. Campsites only thing left unless you head to town for a motel.

Good hearing from you again..........

Jim-kb8ymf[/QUOTE]

can you send me a screen shot of this area of river crossing ?

I know the area well. my family have a hunting camp 6 mi above the tilley lakes, just past the acid rain headquarters on your way upto the old tower. In the past we have hunted most of the 38 rd and tribag mine rd

we had a group of 6 rigs go up and try to tour the mine 2 years ago, water was high in the batchewana river from all the rain that fall. made the 25 mi trip up tribag mine rd just to get denide because the 3rd stream, more like a river now, that crosses the trail, and enters the batchewana river, north of the falls, just north of the gravel pit had washed out 1 side of the bank into a vertical 15foot rise on the other side of the trail. the ATVs that were hunting in the area winched up the other side by 1 guy sitting on his front rack.

if this is the same river crossing you mentioned above, be ready to winch for half a day just to get up the other side, cause its straight uphill and a very mucky clay bank on the other side now
