Boat Forums?

I haven't found any good local, national or global forums. Where are they all hiding?

I just picked up my first boat yesterday. 19.5' Renken 2052 Cuddy with a 305 Merc. While I'm comfortable with working on the 305, I could use a good source of information for everything else.

No, Thats all I have. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing.

This is the same kind/size though. The cuddy is a little small but it fits the GF and I just fine enough. :)

Power steering pump leaks so I was trying to cross reference to an automotive pump. They're pretty much the same but the difference I see is the return line location to the resevoir. Saginaw pumps came with a number of return line config's from what I can see. I know I will have to swap the spring, valve and high pressure fitting from my old pump to retain the same line pressure. I thought it was leaking from the bottom of the pinch weld of the resevoir but looking at it closer, that may not be the case. So, I want to replace the whole asy.

$400 for a Mercruiser pump is ridiculous.

PO's quick fix. Missed a spot though.

The power steering return line from the "Rack" (not sure of the boat term) to the cooler so I'm wondering what the cheapest fix is for this. Its leaking right at the rubber hose as it goes into the fitting to the "Rack". Would I be ok if I just cut the hose, cut the compression joint off the fitting and clamp it? I'm assuming there isn't alot of pressure on the return line if its anything like a car.

$200 for a Mercruiser hose is ridiculous.

might help for the power steering search http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/i...s/pspsheet.pdf

also LSCN.net is for st. clair stuff, but they and iboats have a tech area also

I think you may be stuck on the hose or have one custom made.

thanks. That doc is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'll check out LCSN. I don't like how iboats doesn't have a FS section. I feel like they're forcing you to buy stuff from them. Perhaps I over looked it.

Is that return hose pressurized? I don't see why I couldn't cut the compression fitting and clamp the hose onto the remainder of the fitting.

x2 a one off a 305/350 should work. I would take that into a parts store and compare one side by side.
