I just bought a 1989 4 runner and might have what you are looking for. what are you looking to spend on a good usable motor? and any mile stipulations?

No problem but I doubt you can do a complete rebuild for $500.

Yeah I'm with warner partially...that's too much for "supposed to be" and assuming an unconfirmed 10k on it... We can pick up 3.0's at a pick and pull for 300-700...but true that for 500 you can buy the eBay rebuild kit, if you machined it all yourself you could prolly pull off 500 for a rebuild..on a side note..if you can confirm that motor is what its supposed to be ad has all the fronts and is complete I'd prolly give ya 700 for it as I too am searching for a motor.

A master kit for that motor is $800 from Northern Auto Parts, that does not include machining, assembly, cam bearings, freeze plugs, valve job, rods or crankshaft and even with that you do not have an engine with 0 miles on it, you have a rebuilt motor that depends on the skill of the person doing the machining and assembly. I have no way to prove what my engine is, somebody spent a ton of money on the truck and I'm going by what I was told for $1000 I'll pull the engine other wise I'll complete the truck & sell it whole.
