Skooter do your self a favor and grind that crap off of the frame rails. Put some better motor mounts in, so you don't run your own engine over one day.

I remember when the original pics were posted of the V8 swap, I was in awe of the crappyness, and lack of strength in the motor mounts. The first pics I saw had two flat tabs running horizonally with zero bracing of any kind.

Do it right and you will be happy in the long run.

well I think that after half a year its time I gave yall an update on my other Jeep build.... Heres the update: I havent done a damn thing to it. Ever since I bought this Jeep, my other TJ has become a jelous bitch. Ive spent alot to get that driving again.

Actually some progress has been made; Here are a list of parts that I have bought for it: A set of GM performance Fast Burn heads, a set of new Sway-away 14" Coilovers, 16 Johnny Joints with threaded shaft, an Edelbrock Proflo Multiport fuel injection setup, Painless complete CJ-7 wiring harness, and a trussed Ford Kingpin dana 60(thanks Adam)

List of parts i still need to buy: a rear 14bolt, Poly performance rear 4 link brackets, another set of coilovers for the rear, an Atlas 4 speed t-case, an RCI fuel cell, a set of rubicon express front long arms(or build my own), some BTF comp cut corners and rocker guards, some 6061 solid aluminum stock(1.75 & 2" dia.), and the most expensive part the engine. I now will be going with a World Products Motown 427 stroker sbc shortblock. When the motor is done, with nitrous is should easily be inexcess of 550hp.

i remember helping dickie drop the motor in. i am glad to hear you reworked the mounts he had put in. they scared me.

was wondering myself what had happened to this build-up.

They don't look much different then mine... and they have been abused to hell and back.... but the pic isn't that good of them. I really liked mine and still do.

well i guess its time for a 5 month update:

no "physical" work has been done yet well i did clean out the tub and remove some pieces of cage. Like i have been doing this whole year, ive been collecting and emassing parts, so when I have my winter college break i can start actually working on it, with hope to have it in roller fashion.

Parts collected so far: a Transformers horn button, Edelbrock Pro-flo EFI, GM Fast burn heads, March serp. conversion, a 4 linked Ford Kingpin 60, 16 johnny joints, Poly Performance rear 4link brackets(these are pimp!!!) Ballistic fab track bar and lower link/coilover brackets, one set of 14" swayaway 2.0 coilovers, and a set of 16" 2.5 Swayaway coilovers, 2.5 coilover hardware, front Rubicon Express TJ longarms(uppers and lowers), BTF comp corners and a 14bolt truss(on order for 2 long) a full CJ painless wiring harness, a JD2 bender with hydrualics and 1.625 die, a XJ 2wd front axle, a rubicon express front track bar and some other parts that i cant remember.

Parts i still need to get(to be bought this month): a rear 14bolt axle, an astro van steering box and hydro assist/steering parts, some high steer arms, BTF rear frame section and rocker guards, Novak engine mounts, coilover springs, some airbump cans, gussets, front frame link brackets and rear axle link brackets, a 1.75 tube die, a few sticks of tube, steel, and some wood. Hopefully soon my dad and I will rewire the garage so I can actually use our air compressor and welder.

Future purchases: World products 427 sbc shortblock, Atlas 4 speed t-case(10:1 ratio) send 700r4 to killer b to be built, a cutting brake, ARB lockers, gears and axle shafts, a Cambell Enterprise Fiberglass hood, Lowrance 480C gps, 4 bumpstops and other set of coilover hardware/springs, an aluminum radiator, 7075 solid aluminum for rear links, heater craft heater, YJ manual steering column, winchs... The list could go on an on.

When I actually start working on this pics will come.

Blue Torch Fab finally came through and i now have all the parts i need to start up build up.

Current list of parts: BTF TJ comp corners, 14 bolt truss, TJ Rear Frame Section, Polyperformance rear 4 link brackets, 2 SAW 2.5 16" coilovers with dual rate kits, 2 SAW 2.0 14" coilovers, 16 2" Johnny Joints, 2 So-cal speed shop Speed Blisters, a dope ass Grant steering wheel with a Transformers horn button, about 30lb of Ballistic fab suspension and shock mount brackets, a set of GM Performance Fast Burn heads, Edelbrock Pro-flo EFI, Painless CJ-7 wiring harness, March full Serp. pulley conversion, Full set of 6 full sweep Autometer Cobalt gauges, Rubicon Express front long arms and front trac bar, an Astro van steering box, a complete ff 4.10 geared 14 bolt, and a trussed king pin dana 60.

I plan on starting work in the next few days, Im still waiting to get my welder and air compressor wired up, that is my big hold up. hopefully i can get my father to do that this weekend.

Where'd you get the steering wheel? I'm looking for one similar and the Optimus Prime logo is much cooler than the normal GT ones I usually see.

Today work actually started. I pushed it back into the garage, along with the front 60 and 14bolt. So far i finished gutting the interior, put on the astro steering box, removed the front frame coil buckets, and took a chunk out of my hand with a cut off wheel.

tomorrow im gonna focus on cutting brackets off the axles, tacking together the new brackets, cutting off the front control arm mounts, and designing front high rise fenders.
