th400/np205 in cj7

I know it can be done but I want to know how viable it is. How short will this make my rear drive shaft length? Anyone with personal experience using this combo in a cj7 would be greatly appreciated. The jeep will be a 406 sbc/th400/np205. I am going to move my rear axle back probably about 3 inches or so and that will be a 14 bolt. Thanks for the help

without measuring, i'd guess that moving a 14-bolt back 3 inches would put the pinion in just about the same place. you'll be able to move the engine forward a couple of inches, but the T400/205 combo will probably pretty much eat that up, too.

without measuring, i'd guess a driveshaft 14-16" long. MAX

already have the combo and like the strength of the 205, that is why i went with a th400 vs th350. Are there some people on here running this combo in a cj7?

Make it fit! I have a 305/sm465/205 combo in an 89 inch wheel base. You can make it work with some fabbing.
